I searched online and couldn't find an answer...so here's a question about Galactic War.

In roughly 30% of my GW maps, I'll only get 4-5 metal spots on each planet. Makes for a very slow game. Is this working as intended or am I suffering from a bug?

Additionally, I'm seeing that in many maps all planets share the same orbit. I haven't played in several months (beta only). Is this also working as expected?

Intended on some maps, makes metal spots more valuable.

And yes some maps are scripted to certain layouts.

3 planets on same orbit with 3-6 Metal Spots each is a common thing in GW. I call this the "metal poor system".
Usually the AI is heavily hindered by that. A human should be easily capable to properly rush/focus to get the upper hand. Just figure out if you are alone on the planet, then grab the 2nd unowned planet fast (use astreus as a scouts).
Wth two planets you can easily crush the AI.

Thanks for the replies guys. Now that I know it's working as intended, I'll stop worrying that I'm suffering from some crazy bug :)

Thanks for bringing it to our attention though. Yes, I played GW and some systems are "spawnwars light". Each possible spawn across all the armies has 1 metal, there is no other metal generated. It firstly means, you get 1 metal and they get 1 metal. It secondly means, you have an empty spawn you didn't choose and can collect that. It lastly means, every spawn is marked by a metal point including possible enemy spawns so you can scout them for vacancy or early harassment.

The AI will not function well since it will try to walk it's commander across to distant metal points. TBH you could just harass his extractors when he walks away to the next point, then as he has no units and you have 2+ spawns of metal, you can inferno rush him from 2 sides. If no commander on planet, scout all other planets spawnpoints with astraei. With 2-3 astraei per planet, you can discover any empty planets, and lay early claim to those too.

Exactly, those maps are easiest but also most boring. Go to other planets asap, make 5-10 t2 units with some AA and waltz over AI. Or use some pelters with commander.
