I fully expected a picture of a spider...

"Should we download the update silently?"
"Yes, destroy ALL of their mobile data!"

It's my desktop. I don't want Windows 10 until I absolutely HAVE to get it. Ergo there's no reason it needs to be wasting my bandwidth or my HDD space.

Ooh. That's what you get for reserving it or whatever. Win 7 will be my OS of choice for probably the next 8 months. you can uninstall the "reservation" update, I think.

So long as you don't mind handing over all your data to Microsoft....

This is a serious security risk, especially for business.

You already are doing so on any Windows OS as far back as Vista.

Or if you use MacOS. Or Ubuntu.

I was of the understanding MS have given themselves permission to go through personal files in Windows 10 (as in it's a new term not in earlier releases)?

Windows have updated their EULA or ToS (whichever it is) to allow them to detect software installations and the origins thereof.

MacOS already does this. Steam already does this. Your antivirus suite will also already have these kinds of capabilities.

    what anti virus suite ?

    he's on linux genius

(and it depends on the one. while Mcaffe is dangerous on their policies regarding that, Kaspersky tries to respect the privacy of the individual as much as possible it allows you to have as much pirated software a you want)

So my computer's being weirdly slow and unresponsive. Explorer.exe keeps crashing, things take ages to load, Elite Dangerous crashes after the splash screens.

Oh and by sheer coincidence: The "get windows 10" opens in an unresponsive state.

Probably got nothing to do with the "reserve windows 10" thing. Right?

It doesn't matter what the antivirus systems allow you to do.

    What matters is their capabilities.

Everyone's moaning about MS' capabilities. There is no evidence of MS doing anything to anyones' systems yet.

And I don't care what OS he was on. I listed various operating systems in the post you didn't quote properly. Genius :)

You people do realize that you can turn off MS's tracking and stuff on Win10 in like three clicks? It's there, yes, but you can TURN IT OFF.

    Noobs.
