So. me and my friends just want to comp stomp. However the AIs dependence on nukes really just runs the game for us. There is no point making anything but engineers, anti-nukes, and nukes after about 10 minutes. I've seen 10 nukes coming down onto our bases at the same instant. Yesterday the AI was so nuke happy it was nuking itself. it literally cleared itself off of a moon we had orbital fighters on. I tried to delete the nuke launcher and missile from the local files but I found out this does not work. How can we make a private mod that disables them? note as the AI builds and launches ghost nukes.
You can't remove them at the moment. There is a bug where the AI targets orbital units which is why it nuked itself.

If you were playing against your friends it would be possible to remove the nuclear missile launcher build icon so you all couldn't build it, but yeah you can't stop the AI. Maybe build antinukes?...
Their arn't enough anti nukes in the world once the AI gets going. there have been one or two Ais that are possible to compete with anti nuke to nuke wise. but mostly not.
We can't currently make a mod to disable nukes because we don't have control over the server side. Once we can mod the server side, then we can remove nukes. Keep in mind, AI balance isn't currently done. The nuke usage will be balanced. Also, it's not as bad as you think it is. If you play the game properly, it's very possible to kill the AI before it starts lobbing nukes.
We don't want to kill the AI quickly. we want it to build up and have big tank battles... we've easily slayed the AI before it got nukes plenty of times. We currently wish to leave planet and try and invade a full fortified planet via tactics and such. you know.. invasions. is there a way to make our anti nukes cost less? Thanks.
Sadly no, that's all governed by the server and not the client. You will have to wait until the devs implement a unit-filter (not likely any time soon, since they want to test everything) or release the server (also not likely any time soon until the official release).
make a system with two smallish planet ~300 radius that have seperate orbits (don't orbit each other) since interplanetary nukes don't work then. Just get off planet ASAP and take over the other one when you and the AI have built up defenses then you can try your invasion tactics EDIT: Also make sure you cannot put halleys on the planet that the AI will be on
