Nirvana, the trio comprised of Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic, and Dave Grohl, hailed originally from a coastal fishing town in Washington and rose to become one of the most influential rock bands in history with irreverence, intense honesty and an overriding passion. The cultural shift Nirvana's "Nevermind" initiated was felt instantly on release and the profundity and depth of that shift becomes even more apparent when seen through the prism of the two decades of art and music created in its wake.

Released in September of 1991, Nirvana's "Nevermind" garnered near-unanimous praise and rose within a few months to the No. 1 slot on Billboard's U.S. sales chart. "Nevermind" was propelled to No. 1 across the globe by their young fans worldwide that identified with the band and embraced their anthem "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and its landmark music video. Since then, it has sold more than 30 million albums.

Nirvana changed the course of popular music forever and remains an inspiration to those who have followed.

Universal Music Enterprises is pleased to announce the 4-CD/1-DVD Super Deluxe Edition of Nirvana's Nevermind has been available since September 19, 2011, in the U.K. and September 20, 2011, in North America. The CDs will include previously unreleased recordings, rarities, B-sides, BBC radio appearances, alternative mixes, rare live recordings and an unreleased concert in its entirety on DVD.

The 20th anniversary of Nirvana will be marked throughout the year, with various events and releases.

So in honor of this landmark album post your favorite Nirvana album and song. For me personally my favorite album is a toss up between either their first album Bleach and their MTV Unplugged album. Bleach being such a raw album and a huge turning point in my life when I first heard it. Before then I was honestly into Pop-Hip-Hop believe it or not such as Montell Jordan and Warren G. Although I have older uncles that were into bands such as Rush, The Rolling Stones and Black Sabbath I had NEVER heard anything like Nirvana's Bleach before. This also lead me to bands such as Alice in Chains, Green Day and The Offspring.

The Unplugged album proved to me that raw emotion can and does come in soft packages. The delivery and overall presence of Kurt on stage during this live recording was just breath taking. This is yet another Nirvana album that changed my whole perspective on how I view the music I enjoy. The covers on this Live album were also simply AMAZING!

Also for a tribute to the 20th Anniversary of Nevermind post your favorite song off of this album. It is quite hard for me to pick a single "favorite song" for this album since it is such a landmark album as well and influential. Between Polly, Breed, Territorial Pissings, Lounge Act, Something In The Way and Stay Away I'd have to go with Something In The Way. I don't know maybe because it's the last song of the album and it is full of that grunge emotion that Kurt portrayed so well.

Also my favorite Nirvana song of all time is All Apologies.

Nirvana is on my "Top 5 All-Time Worst Bands" list.

It causes me to panic and switch the station ASAP.
