Lol! If you're creeped out by the mascot then it's perfect! The reason we went with this design is the creepy factor. It will make sense when we reveal how he fits into gameplay.
I did a whole page of portly dudes dancing, wearing oversized heads, and apparently the one in the banner is the one everyone liked. I wasn't sold on it either until I started imagining him doing some Chris Farley-type moves... NOW I'm a fan.
I like how you don't waste much time with homepage design and instead just put a jpg up the main page. It is a bit confusing that "Our Game" looks the same as "Dev Blog" and "Join Ubernation" yet is no link like the other both. Those few bits you revealed sound interesting and I really want to hug that cute mascot.
Yeah, TBO is right about the links looking like just headers. You definitely succeeded in making the mascot look creepy. I think the shorts have the biggest effect :?
the text looks kinda shoved over to the left-hand side there, possibly move it over a little bit so it doesn't go textblueblack? and i liked having the headers be links? can you have those as links and keep that link at the bottom?
The blue brings out the pit crew girl more - and the mascot too... :? Navigation bar looks good, also muich easier to spot. Btw, does the mascot play a central role in your game? Otherwise I would think the girl would look better on the forum header. Oh and the header is too short in case nobody noticed.
I think the mascot is supposed to be the thing lifting the box in the company's logo. In that case, it's kinda fitting. And quite narcissistic of the dude, since he's wearing a hat with a picture of himself. Does he have a name? If not, I nominate Narcissuber.
Also, I'd recommend making the Mascot thing clickable so it links to the forums. That's kind of a big picture for such a small link
