New vs. Old

Thinking since we are at a peak of private match interest, i think its time to have some of these matches.
old players: people who used to do privates around the brink era and earlier
new players: everyone who has been playing recently and people who started when teapot was doing them a couple months ago

new players nominate and pick a captain to put together a lineup for yourselves )hell even a roster as long as you want), the vets will do the same, maybe something we can do during the week or at latest over the weekend.

what would be cool in my mind is if we had a ton of people on one day with like 8+ from each side where people could rotate in so everyone could get a piece of the action, a party chat for each era, and keep a running map tally. seems like a fun idea if people wanna give it a go

I guess that depends on the criteria. I stopped playing privates as soon as spunky came out and then played 3 last month. So I guess 'old' would be people who have always played privates making me 'new'. How long have you been playing them?

Just before Brink came out. I think i'm old, but dunno.

I started playing literally right at the beginning of summer (July 2)
So that'd make me new right? Since brink couldn't hold on for 1 month.

July 28th, I was unaware of any "era" until I found this site

if people will show up, old era should include - Miracle Shammas Chron Kckzi Deadpool and an old era support, or anyone from the old era willing to play it.

Post brink era / New era should include Wildman, Gunked, CrimsonAutumn, and Zatchmo. Not sure who the best support or tank of the new era would be.

I consider myself and old era player, but would rather play for the post brink era.

Regardless, I agree with jon. It's a cool idea but it just hasn't worked and most likely won't work.

and based on other threads, I think people put too much thought into when chron says era. we aren't talking about dynastys or some nostaglia type of dream team, but simply a way to define time periods with different players. Old era private match players included people who are no longer around for present day private matches.

zatchmo is definitely old (new scum and TEG), wildman is on the fence, and teapot is obv old but you shouldnt play for new just bc u think they might need a hand or for w/e other reason

Yeah MLG can play support and there's your full old era team.

LMP, when we played GP he was definitely good. Great headshot accuracy, however I felt F5in's sniper was more effective in terms of map control / containment. At the time though he was great.

Recently however, he played and my god was it the most pathetic display I have ever seen, and not in a "he was great and now he's average" way.

Name a sniper and I would have rather had him on my team. Seriously, juggalo or snack would have been more useful than sigmar was. Maybe sigmar is better than them and has better accuracy, but he was straight up useless. He was legit trying early in the match, and got destroyed numerous times right off the bat that he decided he was just going to stay in the spawn. He played it off like he wasn't even trying or there for most of the match, but the truth is the only way he could cover up his lackluster performance was to deny he was trying.


Crimson, no offesne to them, but I haven't seen them (especially LP) in privates enough to judge whether they'd get stomped, put up a fight, or dominate the old era.


edit : chron although zatchmo has been around on the forums and pubs, and particiapted in drafts, I don't believe he was picked up by TEG as a sniper till after Brink. That's how I'm basing old vs new. Everyone on the old team can be considered GP era, but I don't consider wildman or zatchmo GP era, even though each have been around for a long time. They got their private match fame after the GP era.

Teapot, well is Jon old or new? Cuz he could go support, and ya LP doesn't play much but I'm not sure who else could play tank.

Jon and Zatch are pre-Brink, suck it.
