I've been running with Gold Skill, Silver Armour and Bronze ROF for a while, but I recently discovered that the difference between Gold and Silver Skill is negligible.

It was not a fun moment.

I've switched to Gold ROF, Silver Skill and Bronze Accuracy, and the Railgun has become my favorite weapon. My backup class for weathering fire while pushing bots is Gold Armour, Silver Skill and Bronze ROF.

Any advice or similar builds I might enjoy?

Try either Gold Crit, Silver ROF, Bronze Armor. Or switch crit and ROF. I really like this for railgunning bots and jackbots, as well as people. The jetgun becomes a death machine against anything pretty much. That's what I role for tank most of the time. Another class is Crit, Armor, Clip size.

I've been having fun with rof/reload/skill lately on non-laggy hosts. Jumping death blossoms everywhere with high skill spam and rail gun spam.

Rof/accuracy/skill also works for a non armor build if you want more railgunning.

I've dropped speed after becoming less than god awful with the railgun lately.

When I play public, I use
    RoF
    Accuracy
    Skill, Reload, or Speed.

After reading DeadStretch's guide on tanks, I decided to play with the line up a little and this is what I came out with.

    Gold - Shield
    Silver - Skill
    Bronze - Reload

Pretty useful for deploying. Went 41-12 on AmmoMule.

Been messing around with a few builds lately, but I mostly cycle between RoF/Armor/Reload Speed and Skill Recovery/Armor/Reload Speed. Sometimes I'll use my Skill/RoF/Reload whenever I feel as if I have no need to wear the extra armor.

If what Psycho says is true about Gold vs Silver Skill recovery, I might have to consider adjusting those last two. Always loved being able to use charge 3 twice to kill an enemy pro...

    Speed
    Armor
    Health regen

Who needs passive clutch when you can deploy 2 clutch

Also gold speed makes it easier to double dash (tap a right after your dash on an angle and you glide)

Ive been using bronze clip instead of skill pill just for the extra rail shots, i get so sick of getting a gunner/tank down to a slither of health only to have to reload an he falls back to safety. Its good with the jet gun too as your death blossom keeps the damage as if it were full most of the time. Imo clip is one of the best bronze slots.

    Skill
    Armor
    RoF

    =

The hawtness. I'm really loving this build on LR and Spunky. Backup is RoF/Armor/Skill for the bigger maps with long sight lines.

Try reading the OP m'dear, I used to run with that until I found out that the difference between Gold and Silver Skill is negligeable - roughly a second less cooldown time, compared to a large difference in ROF and Armour Gold and Silver.

Thanks for the suggestions: I didn't notice a huge difference with the Crits build Zatchmo - but crit-Railing a Sniper to death is hilariously satisfying.

I unintentionally ran the same build as the great Shammas!? It's great craic to Rail Assaults from mid-range and actually have a chance against them.

Hudson, I love my Product Grenade a little too much to not run at least Silver Skill, but I'll give it a shot. Being able to run out of the spawn is fun, but all I have to do is kill a few Bots and I'll have my Gold Speed.

Rue, I don't like Deploying unless I'm in cover - I fear Assaults enough without them Headcrabbing me at any opportunity.

SXD24, I started Blitz, bought LVL 3 Product Grenade and counted the time between each Skill recovery. The difference for Charge is slightly bigger, I think. Try Death Blossom - Charge - Railgun.

Feedle, that's a very different style to what I usually play, but I'll give it a shot.

How many more shots does it add, Juiced Up Tank? When I get my Dazzle working I"m going to make a video of each class doing their thing with different Endorsements.

Also, I'm getting backstabbed far too regularly. I'm debating leaving out Skill and just hunting for Churros.

I did read the OP. I would contend that a second can make or break you if you're spamming your skills in the thick of things. Sure, it's "only a second," but I do think it makes a difference. I will give armor/skill/rof a try and see what the feel of it is, but comparing the boost from silver > gold with rof/armor versus skill is hard because I imagine the range of how many seconds you can shave off is a bit smaller than the range of the other two.

True, sometimes I get killed while waiting for my Charge to...recharge.

I feel that there is a greater benefit in having an increased rate-of-fire or greater health than there is from having a small increase in skill recharge. It's difficult to compare them, but look at it this way - say if I was hungry, and I had a choice between a 2.2lb bucket of bacon for $5, or a 2lb bucket of bacon for $2. $3 cheaper, and only a small difference in the amount I get? OM NOM NOM.

Listen, I live in the States and don't understand your Communist method of measuring bacon.

I use charge to get to and fro, and also to escape when discretion is obviously the better form of valor, so that extra second is crucial in many situations. I've been able to charge twice, once into the fray and then again to finish the battle, in many situations where an extra second makes a difference.

I understand why you use it, but if you put on your WoW Cap of Numbers Game, the benefit of Armour or ROF are greater, especially with Churros floating around everywhere. 'Sides, Armour will more than cover you for that second or so while you wait for your Charge to come back.

Oh, you dirty min/maxer! You using that logic on me!!!

I will give it a try tonight. I've been trying to play my RoF/armor/skill tank more, but I just love my recharge tank.

D&D references? Pssh. No-one loves throwing Product Grenades around more than me, apart from maybe Billy Mays. Silver Skill is almost the same as Bronze, so just switch Armour and Skill. Or, stop being such a girl's blouse and get rid of Armour.

I think IllenJen's build makes sense for LR. Or possibly go gold skill, silver RoF (jet gun rate is almost identical between silver and gold) It's a map where rail gun plays a smaller part and where having Charge ready even half a second quicker can mean an additional kill or the chance to escape.

The extra armour won't save you if an assault or gunner has just dropped down and started emptying a full clip into you. Charge will.

If the Gunner is within a certain distance to you, you're pretty much boned anyway. The Charge is fast, but thanks to the Lords of Latency, I rarely make those escapes anyway. I just feel that there are more situations when I thank my extra Armour or ROF than occasions when I thank the slightly-faster recharge of my Skills.

Could always fall back on a Armor/Rate of Fire/Skill Recovery if need be. I swear by it for ANY class as a good basic standard. Though the other build I run is a slight interpretation of SDX24's close combat Tank in his guide with Reload Speed/Speed/Rate of Fire. Reload allows you to use Death Blossoms like nothing, Speed to get where you're going faster (or at least keep up with the other Pros), and Rate of Fire to keep your guns decent.

YOU get rid of armor. I have a hard time playing such a heavy and slow class without armor, plus I'm always charging into groups of people trying to get myself killed, so I like what armor + upgrade passive gives me.

I guess I love my gold recharge so much because I use charge 2/3 to get around the map quicker (sometimes using Hudson's charge+jump combo off of elevated platforms) and I love having it available early and often.

I don't railgun enough on certain maps to justify the RoF, although for some reason I just ignore the more burny burn it gives you with the jet gun. I mostly use the railgun for the jackbot, although I really need to concentrate on just getting better with it versus pros. I just feel like a spaz trying to use it because I have horrible aim. That's why I probably have more DB kills than the jetgun and railgun combined. It's spray and pray...ALL THE TIME.
