I think the orbital lifter should have a new rocket launch every time it leaves the surface of a planet like it does on the first launch. So when it has visited a planets surface to pick up a commander etc you need to build new rockets. At least the animation should show a new launch rocket when it leaves into orbit. This does make sense doesnt it? The gravity is constant after all ;-) The rocket launch has a nice animation by the way.
Absolutely, but since there is no build new rocket button yet, doing this instead of doing unit cannon / cross planetary nukes etc. is not the first thing uber should be doing. The orbital launcher facility currently builds the launch rocket with the unit. Changing it so that it has to make the rocket and unit separate is not a trivial task I'd imagine.
It's most likely a symptom of the fact they Introduced over 1000 changes/new things into the Beta build and many of them are far from completion, give how Often Neutrino points people to the Pre-Viz when talking about end goal for the gameplay and such along with how they haven't said anything to counter what is in the pre-viz I think it's fair to say that'll happen, it'll just take some time. Mike
I agree this may only be a visualization thing and then it shouldnt be prioritized very high! Just a thought. I really think the game has grown since beta release! This fellow has described it well
You misunderstand me, because of how it affects gameplay it should have a higher prioritization, for example right now, you can draw out a game by just flying your commander between planets because you don't need a booster. It's not that needing a booster wasn't important, just that they got the core idea working so they've refine it later. Mike
It's a very simple solution to the Planet hopping problem. By needing a new rocket, the player must invest in a launch pad and a booster to get his Commander moving again. If the player already has the rocket in place, then he probably has enough stuff to continue putting up a good fight. If he can't afford it, then it's time to strand the Commander and let him die.
