    Hey,
Just wanted to drop in and say hi to all the vets! Took advantage of the sale on XBLA to pick up this gem. I loved the trial and just got busy with other stuff and never picked it up...till now. Any advice for a newcomer? :?:

    Welcome!

    A) Use a mic.

    2) Push bots.

    D) Play to your classes strengths. This ain't team death match.

And don't touch my stuff or I'll feed you to my tarantula.

Aloha and welcome. Just letting you know now, you're probably going to find yourself on the receiving end of a lot of extreme takeovers until 1) you start to get good at a class, and 2) you get yourself a bunch of friends who also have skill. An organized team is the deadliest thing in the world. Some things to keep in mind:

    1) You don't need more than one turret per bot lane to keep out bots. Anything more than a rocket is just there to try keeping out players, but even a base with all level 3 rockets can't defend itself against a single competent player. Someone's gotta be playing defense at all times.
    2) Never build a laser. There is literally no good reason to build a laser right now. Rockets are cheaper ($150 for a level 1 rocket, $175 for a lever 3 laser of similar strength), and lasers even give juice to your opponents. Taunting in front of a laser, assuming you've got the armor you need to live through the taunt, gives you a full bar of juice.
    3) Once an enemy team manages to start spawncamping, they've pretty much won. If all enemy turrets get destroyed, the bots will naturally win the game for you as long as no players can resist them.
    4) One good bot push can really make the game for you. If you can get the ball down and continuously tag it for even small amounts, that alone can be the game-winning play. This is the true power of the Annihilator; to make or break bot-pushing I have taken teams of random players to victory by sneaking into their base (Assassin's good at that), destroying as they were kill-farming, and single-handedly taking down all of the money-ball's health even after they killed me several times.
4a) It's definitely not a sentiment that'll help you win, but your moneyball's shields can't go down as long as bots never make it in. Even if all the turrets get destroyed, just keeping the bots under control will ensure you stay in the game.
    5) Kind of a bad habit I have. Taunting after a kill gets you $50, and it's definitely a great thing to do if you have a good position. Early on, it helps you get the money you need to get your initial skills set up if your opening play requires a level 3 skill (Gunner needs his duel minigun, Assassin wanting her sword, etc.). However, it's not worth it if you're on a streak and already have lots of money. I can't tell you how many times I've died because I just had to taunt for extra money.
    6) Kinda class-specific, but we really need this. If you play Support, learn the maps so you know the best spots for firebases and heal many things continuously! If you're not trying to shotgun someone close to you, you should likely be healing whatever happens to be nearby. Players in red health and on fire are probably going to be prime candidates, although they could easily have some serious firepower chasing them. A strong Gunner with a Support following him is one of the strongest weapons in the game.

My best piece of advice is simple, Play Blitz mode first just to get used to each class and what they have to offer. After that follow the posts above. Playing Blitz will earn you moneys and you should be able to buy your first custom class slot by the time you are ready to try Crossfire, which is 6v6 Team v Team.

Anyways, Welcome to the Wonderful and Wacky World of Monday Night Combat!

    What he said.

Oh, and try not to get too frustrated. If you see someone taunting after they kill you, it's probably nothing personal, they're just trying to make $$$. There's a learning curve to MNC. It might take you a while to figure out what class, and tactics work for you. It's an awesome game, hope to see you out there.

    Kckzi's noob advice

-Snipers and assassins don't ever need armor of any kind.
-LazerBlazers are by far the best turret you can buy. Remember to only build them up to level 1 or 2 though.
-Long turrets belong UNDER the spawn ring.
-Assassins are ONLY for killing pros. Let other classes worry about bots, it's much easier for them.
-As a support, hurt gun is the most effective way to kill pros... especially assassins.

If you want to I'll play with ya too. gt: govnerplatypus(duh) and more simple tips:

Don't EVER deploy as a Tank or Gunner when you see a sniper. That's just free cash for him. Well, do deploy when you play against me though:D please.

Use your skills to their potential. Every class has their own little advantages.

Don't face grapple a gunner tank, or assault. EVER EXCEPT if they have low health.OTHERWISE You're dead before you could spell Hi.

Juice. It's the little thing that makes you go all Superman mode. Melee a bot and see how your juice goes up(press down on the right stick or B on tactical layout.

Don't go invisible as an assassin when you're on fire.

Hope to game with you soon and Welcome to the Forums.

Hey, face grapples are fine if they're already weakened to the point you can get them, but yeah it's generally a bad idea.
