This thread is not about how stable/unstable the forums are, and should not be swayed in that direction.

I simply think this is a good idea on courses of action to follow, that might encourage these forums to return to how they were months ago, and stay the way we want them to stay.

First, unban anyone who was banned over the recent vague flame wars.

Then, simply clarify the rules. Make them stricter about any public opinion. We aren't dictators, but we won't allow people to argue in the middle of a forum intended for constructive discussion is all. Something along the lines of...

"Keep hurtful opinions out of the forums. Clans/Teams are allowed and even encouraged, but based opinions around these should not affect posts in sections where the game is discussed, and should not start flames or be unpolite. Personal opinions should only be on-topic, constructive, and polite. Anything seen as too much of a 'put-down' can be removed by moderators, which can warn you not to do it again. Repeat or servere offences can lead to a ban."

    Also...

"Make sure that, when you post, it has significant meaning and context. One-word-posts are allowed, but they have to be on topic and contrubute, so you are better off making posts with multiple words. Make sure posts are on topic, add significantly to that topic, and are generally worth posting. Insignificant posts can be deleted, you can be warned, and if it persists you can be banned."

I simply think this will at least guide people away from starting flames, and give mods stronger reason to react on any. Now, if anything is started, mods can immediately remove posts and warn, and can do it until the person gets the idea, reguardless who that forum member happens to be. Any problem with these ideas, anyone?

I'll admit, I've missed allot of the degrading around these parts due to lack of net, and then with the return of net, not as much time investment here nor in game as could be doing as I've been playing 'catch up' in other areas. But I'll admit, it's a good idea at heart. Would be interested to see if it develops at all or not, thought I also can't say that I'm holding my breath that it will.

Sadly once you get 'more' of something, saturation of different mindsets is bound to happen. When we started off, only the people REALLY interested in the utter development and growth of this game was here. Not to say we didn't have a troublemaker here or there, but overall that was the mass amount of minds. Now that the games launched, everyone and their mother has started coming here, and they all have completely different views on the topic, and they now outnumber us few by a large amount. All of a sudden something that was clearly something done to spark confusion and conflict that WOULD have been easily ignored, isn't. We ourselves haven't changed, but theirs now so many new people here who act the same why they do elsewhere that it really does start to get out of hand.

I think that people know arguments over the internet are both meaningless and wrong. If you need more rules on basic etiquette then it's unlikely that the person will be of a great loss. Besides, forums are supposed to be a place where people can gather with a common interest and express that and easily communicate it. Simple spits and spats about Clans and Teams are almost inevitably going to occur through any game and forum that supports such teams.

So, to summarize, no need to change the rules, keep banning the ones who try to cause fights!

Pretty much anyone except feedle who was banned last month.

    Maybe feedle too, idk.

Just the main forum members who were banned and now other people are crying "unfair". Next time they do something wrong, they get banned, and someone cries, you can lock their thread after posing the rule they broke and how they broke it.

Once it is clear, it shouldn't be up for discussion.

Don't let people who were permanently banned back
Those who have been banned broke the rules and deserved the punishment

Rules need to be clarified BEFORE we ever talk about letting people back, so that all the people start from the same point.

We are reworking SOME rules at the moment.

There are currently no plans to bring people back, but we keep an open mind.

    I couldn't agree more.

Could anyone explain why exactly does the account "drunken feedle" not post here any more?

The way I see it, it couldn't hurt to let the banned back. If they act up again, ban them again. If they want to be good, contributing memebers, well then good for them.

    Who knows.

I think that if anything anybody says over they internet hurts you enough that you get angry you probably need a break from the internet.

Here's be your problem: Negative sanctions NEVER work.

If someone wants to be a douchebag, they're going to be one whether or not they're getting a slap on the wrist. The fact that they're not allowed to just adds to their rebellious ego. If you really want to see some sort of turn around, reward good behavior. It makes people WANT to contribute in a positive way.

Now it's not even BAD people that are being removed. If someone posts 'post', they're insta-banned because some silly green/red people don't like people boosting their post count. When people like Billy, one of the all around best dudes on this forum that i've met, get banned for a meme, it brings down everyone's enthusiasm.

Most of us on here, at least on the xbox, have mastered this game to the level we're comfortable with. The only thing left is the community, and right now it BLOWS. Now people are actively trying to get banned so they can go to a fun community, much like this used to be.

Find a way to let people flame. Make a new sub called 'the gauntlet.' Who gives a ****. The 'flame deadeye era' brought about lots-o-giggles. As did the 'flame shammas era,' before he thought it'd be funny to be racist. Just find a way to control it.

Green people: You're ruining the community more than the posters are. These silly 'AMAGAWD I'VE HAD IT NO MORE OR BANHAMMER' posts are stupid, and they make everyone dislike this community all the more.

    --------------

I'm really not trying to just bitch. I've never had more fun on this game than at our first OXY game night, but now I can't even set up our second because there's no one here to see the thread. I'd like to have that back, but there's no doubt that certain people with a green name don't entirely know what they're doing. There are MUCH BETTER ways of dealing with the issues that are being 'dealt' with.
