This was found by yogurt312 (he gave me permission to post this): (At 1:24 into the video) The second drawing is the progenitor commander, but the other three are new (they do not match the alpha commander either).
lol actually i wanted post that XD, like OH HELL YEA, but i guess these commanders are just skretches. still awesome to see some background work.
They showed the progenitor commander in an earlier video before it was released, too. So this might be just the same and those are some kind of funny addition they will reveal soon. Even though I wonder for what they could be used.
Aww darnit, I was reviewing the video again this morning and saw the same thing...but am happy that other people saw it too.
I guess that, since all players will have the same units, there will at least be a set of 'basic' commanders to choose from in addition to the progenitor, alpha and the commander seen in the original presentation video, just to give the players some variety... A thought just occurred to me: How difficult would it be to code into the game the ability to slightly modify the look of stock units, just so the units of different players are more easily distinguished? For example, if you choose the skinny red commander from the screenshot, all your units are slightly thinner/taller than stock, while still retaining the same characteristics (speed, damage, HP) but if you choose the bulky green commander, all your units appear a bit beefier...
Thats quite hard to do, as every model would need to have sections defined which could be resized without breaking the model. But what i would pledge for, are multiple colors for each player. That means a color scheme should consist of at least 2 colors to give a wider variation, telling apart the units of 40 different players by a single color only is impossible.
