If you use the patrol click and drag, occasionally the circle will not disappear, especially if you select the unit/factory you gave the command to. You can fix this by double tapping CAPS-LOCK, but obviously, its a bug. In mass attacks, ground or air (however uncertain about sea) after your units are destroyed (especially if they are done away quickly) their blue selection squares remain seen for the rest of the game.
