Has anyone looked at the new 360 controller? WTF is up with all of this Black/White BS? The face buttons are now colorless. Why? Do we have some employee over at Microsoft that thinks that color is evil? First an ugly dashboard update, now this...
They were speculating holiday season, but they haven't released anything. MLG recently banned it due to the extra buttons, so I think they might be fixing it to make it tournament legal, since that's the goal.
The buttons would have been cool, but not in a tournament setting. It does everything better though, better grip, more concave sticks, adjustable tension on sticks, more responsive buttons, and wired so it works with PC and is tournament legal.
yeah, the MLG, as you may suspect and as they are generally famous for, are douchebags. by which i more technically mean they are tryhards who want to balance every playing field yet love to overuse common aspects of a game. which is why i like games which tournaments are help by a seperate that-game-only group. because you think a multiple-game-wide group would be a good thing, until they start picking favorites and making rediculous fairness rules and still encourage the worst of the gamers to be god-aweful to play against. but if the MLG has a guitar hero group, id like to think i could beat them at cult of personality. proving you can play well without... being a douchebag. major league indeed. real professional... cuz most of them act like Enron. Major League Gamers < Minor League God (me lol)
I always love how you have to change all of the in-game settings. I used to play a lot of Gears of War on Gamebattles.com and they have you changing more than half of the weapon spawns in the game. It blows. And I've heard both MLG and the Halo 2 forums are to blame for the overpowered Battle Rifle (why does a battle rifle beat someone who is dual-wielding at close range?), and I now hate them both.
MLG only really cares about Halo, so don't expect any other good games. But I have to agree with them changing settings, because it does make gameplay more skill based. Obviously having to aim and hit 4 consecutive shots takes more skill than who sees who first with an assault rifle. Shadowrun is still the only game that hasn't had any changes to gameplay in MLG gametypes.
MLG needs to take a cue from the fighting game scene and allow everything that doesn't break the game. If a game isn't competitive, then it's not competitive.
But it's not about what's competitive. It's about what makes the most money. That's why all you see is Halo, Gears, and most recently CoD. That's also why Black Ops will be supported only on PS3, because Sony signed a contract with MLG and payed them. If I won the lottery today, I'd make my own league and support good games, but that's quite a long shot.
