so far that is what they will be doing most likely. However a final decision has not been made afaik, or at least not declared.
viewtopic.php?p=729034#p729034 It would appear you won't be able to disclose anything until the Steam Early Access goes live on the 7th June.
That is not how I read that post at all. I read that post as they have already brought in the 11 super high end backers to assist with outside connectivity and basic bandwidth optimization/stability and have been working with them under and NDA to help protect the anonymity of these 5k-10k backers moreso than any attempt to hide any alpha footage from leaking early. When the client starts going out to the 'masses' it will be with a specific announcement that they are doing so, and who is getting it with each wave. I suspect the first wave will clump the 250-1000usd backers all sans NDA. Again to help protect some anonymity for people and their backing levels. Without the NDA that will permit people who dont want to disclose their 1000usd donation to be able to stream or vidcap alpha footage. Hopefully that will be Monday. If it all goes well, Tuesday could be the ramp up for all the Kickstarter Alphas. In the unlikely event they get that many people stable on the servers before Friday (the 7th), we'll see the cosmic's and galactic preorders get invites. Otherwise they will get it on the 7th at whatever stage of stability they were able to acheive by that time. That's my own personal take on the most likely course of events/timetable for the alpha launch. There's always a chance uber has decided to work the weekend however, at which point we could get the first wave of NDA-less alpha at any moment really.
No NDA, none that I know of at least. Early alpha attendees may be asked to not talk about the game; we'd prefer to not have to force people to sign formal NDAs and that a friendly request is enough. That worked pretty well during SMNC days.
Fair enough. I guess I probably romanticized the 10k backer level a little bit with my imagination. I was thinking these individuals have been involved somewhat intimately since the kickstarter (and likely under a formal NDA from the begining) and therefore wouldn't require anything new to keep it under wraps. Although at the same time a formal/legal binding NDA would be incredibly redundant in that situation. No-one is going to throw in 10 grand becuase they believe in the project, be asked by the devs not to disclose info, then not honor that request. That would be incredibly bipolar. Thanks for the clarification Ben.
