So I know this is beta and things are new, and I've done quite a bit of searching for a navy thread in this beta forum. I just wanted to list some of the problems I've encountered using naval units.

    • Hard to see vision radius for naval units: I engaged in a naval battle with another player and couldn't tell if his ships were invisible or if I wasn't in range compared to his ships. Turns out I didn't have enough vision for my units to fire back but I didn't know that since the water shows no visible fog of war. (This was a earth style planet) Again i'll try it to see if I messed up.
    • Submarines are awful: I'm guessing navy is taking a back burner for now but i'll just list the issues the sub is suffering from. Currently no UI setup for Submarines to dive into/out of water. Nuclear submarine has no option to build nukes or dive. Subs also need a speed boost or something.
    • Sonar doesn't detect ships: I know its meant to fight off subs, but it should detect ships in the general area as well and allow my ships to fire at the grey blips.
    • Animation doesn't work for Cruiser ship(T1 Anti air ship): Missiles work correctly out of the SAM on the back but the front facing cannon does no spinning or govern the attack direction.
    • Battleships (Advanced version): The Range on this beast is lame, It seems long for normal ship combat but it doesn't attack very far inland. It would be nice to have an increase
    • Ships are too big: Even though planets will be entire oceans, ships are way to clunky and huge to travel in a pack. Currently a small armada of 12 ships bang into each other before finally setting off to attack. Once you get the Battleship and Cruise missile ship involved, they just increase the clutter. A small size reduction would be nice since it might make it easier for ships to move around and be good.
    • All ships are glass cannons: I know when I destroy engineers, they melt to T1 units.. but it seems when my navy attacks another navy, they do the same thing. Since navy has fewer units in general, It would be nice to have some hit points so the battles are not over in 2 seconds.
I'll add to this if there is more stuff I've noticed but so these are the major ones preventing any further naval balance.

(I have found 1 good navy discussion thread in the general forum, so i'm not sure if i'm double threading I can delete this one if its redundant)
