What do you think of the nanolathe effect when your construction units are nanolathing?
Personally I miss a little of blockiness of the TA nanolathe effect. I might grow used to it, but at the moment it looks a little like green vomit spewing from their appendages!

Could use a little more black to green variation in the colour.

But I am happy with it anyway.

They've mentioned that the FX seen so far are first pass, I'm sure they tweak/change it when they get the time.

Imo it ought to spray in a controlled manner suited to whatever it's building. Twist and fly into the "seams" of the model, you know, so it's not just like waving a spray can from side to side and more of a smart cloud of nanobots.

No experience in FX though, so I don't know if that's a ridiculous request for a game with 250 units. Seems like it might be automated fairly easily though.

People really should stop wondering about effects at the current stage of the game...

None of this information is irrelevant. Feedback is feedback and trust me, devs LOVE that stuff when playtesting! But I am going to say I disagree, I really enjoy the more TA like building animations. Really brings me back and I personally think it looks awesome. Since it is alpha I am sure the effect will only get better from here. But yes, TA green spray = AWESOME!

I think I'm going to just keep changing the effect every few builds to keep people on their toes. ;)

The way it is makes sense with the backstory which is kind of all that matters in a basic thing like that. The only thing I miss is the motions of the spraying arms being somehow related to the object being built -- especially shipyards in the animations I see tend to look like they are spewing the green stuff into the water, when building smaller ships...

tbh, I kinda agree with Rorschach. I'm really liking the design for the 50240/50256 patch. Maybe it's just nostalgic bias, I dunno.

If you're gonna keep changing 'em, it'll be interesting to see what you guys come up with.

Personally I think it would be cool to have slightly different looks depending on the builder, and what they're building. An air fact building a fighter might display condensed streams, but building a bomber would cause it to be wider spread. Commander building mex = stream alternating up/down, building a factory = giant tornadoish thing undulating side to side.

    Rainbow colors?
    (not really...)

Heh, maybe a metal planet-related powerup that gives the commander a rainbow ultralathe. Builds things instantly and for free, but no assisting. Given the commanders limited build menu, maybe that wouldn't be OP.

What about an option to chose your nanolath colour or base it of your team colour
    Just for a little variety.

    Different comander different style

I don't want to not have a green naolath because I chose to be the black team. I quite love the TA style green and would rather not lose that option. Maybe for just give players a nanolath color option that is just whatever you want? That way people who want variety can have it while the TA lovers can stick with the CORRECT color
