I almost hate getting bacon as a Support. Don't get me wrong, it's all sorts of good stuff, but I actually perform worse with improved accuracy. A shotgun's not meant to be accurate, and I end up doing just fine in damage anyway.
Disagree. Makes hitting skinny Assassins and Assaults easier, and killing Tanks/Gunners more hilarious. My Shotgun Support build is ROF Gold, Accuracy Silver and Armour Bronze. Though I'm going to try Speed Gold, Armour Silver and ROF Bronze tonight.
I love bacon as next as the next guy, but I've got to agree with Organous in that you do *NOT* want a tighter spread on a frickin boomstick(in video games anyways).
I actually did some private match testing on the effect of accuracy on the shotgun, and the only noticeable difference I was able to find was reticule size. The actual damage, range, and spread of the shotgun seems to be completely unchanged by accuracy endorsements.
Is it just that I haven't played in a week, or haven't reticule size and spread gone hand-in-hand, what with spread being the opposite of an accuracy boost and all.
All of my classes are vegan, because winners don't eat animals. *prepares for thread derail and inevitable bashing*
Yeah same here, I do much worse with the smaller reticle on the shotgun. So when overtime comes along or I get bacon, my ability to kill goes in the crapper. Still, it's a tradeoff for bacon endorsements.
You would think so yes, however my testing found that the spread remained consistent regardless of the reticule size. The actual spread of the shotgun is right about the size of the reticule with accuracy, regardless if you're actually using accuracy or not. In my testing I found that without accuracy you could cover your target with nearly half the reticule and the shot would not land. The spread is actually considerably more condensed than most people would think given the size of the reticule.
Eh, eye dunno. I suppose it's possible that the smaller reticule size is just intimidating, but I do have a much more difficult time hitting targets when I'm rocking the accuracy with the shotgun.
I'm not really trying to argue a point or anything, and I know you've played support much, much, much more than I have, but I'm just telling you what I found when I went into a private match and tested it out. If you doubt me, you're welcome to go and try it out yourself.
As another regular Support player, I love EVERTHING about getting Bacon... except the reticle size of the Shotgun. I normally battle with the Shotty, but grabbing Bacon practically forces me not to, because I have a hard time hitting anything with it. I wanted a widespread weapon with massive damage, not a Rail Gun with no range. If it increased the range, then okay, it might be worth the endorsement, but since it doesn't, I'll always have to switch my entire playstyle from Shotty kills to Heal/Hurt Gun and Air Strike kills (see: Greggyyyy).
