So me and my friends have had some spare time so we designed a game. we can do some code and other programming **** so we might actually be able to do this. I just wanna say i will upload designs etc. here so i have a place were people can go to look at the game without making a website or something.. EVERYTHING PLEASE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK! thanks, love tweaker (no homo... ok yes homo) BASIC CONCEPT: FORTRESS (TEMP NAME) is a pvp fps. The whole theme combat similar to fable 3. I got the idea of this from a game called WARHAMMER a mmorpg. Where in a pvp area you and your team either has to attack or guard a fortress. HERE IS WARHAMMERS TAKE ON THIS.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3V-RWK4yoCs skip to about 00:32 there are three main goals here for the attackers. 1. Get gates open 2. kill Fort guard 3. gain control of the top The game is at the moment going to be PVP. Theres going to be 3 classes 1.swordmans (wields a 2hand sword as well as pistol) 2.rogue (wields to smaller swords and shotgun 3.engineer (wields rifle and can make turrets and robots to aid.) Games story: We havent put much of anything into the story other then this. The time period is a time of change that area between medieval to revolutionary. Where guns and other inventions and gadgets are being made. The two sides are the rebels and the empire. The rebels are actually in this case the good guys and are mostly rely on the old ways (swords etc.) The empire is Tech savy who are seen as the bad guys but think there doing good. Everything they have including there swords have noticeable tech used. I will upload concept art and map designs as we go. We wont be doing programing til were at the point that we are capable of doing this . Which will be far off. But as of right now we want to have a game with us so when we do program we can get this out fast. Look forward to more! I'll let you know what I think when I play it. What sounds good written down doesn't always translate to when it's playable. So hurry up and prototype it already Seriously, if you are going to do a PvP multiplayer game, start by building it.
Yeah what program do you guys suggest? and if i do get a playable whitebox form of some sorts. This forum will be the first to have it.
UPDATE: PVE PRESENCE will still be in the game. for example killing the fort guard. There will also be other turrets / aid robots that the engineer can make.
I started to take Eka's advice and well find a program and get use to it and build my game. Well UDK was just focused around other games so i need another program. anyidea's?
due to reasons i cant really explain (mostly balancing issues...) we are redoing the classes.. Swordsman TRAITS: SWORD/MOVES FAST/ LOW HEALTH/ HEALTH REGENS (OVER LONG LONG TIME)/ HIGH FIRERATE/ 3 HITS TO KILL GUNSMAN (3 SECONDS) 5 TO KILL SWORDSMEN gunsmen: THOMPSON like gun/ medium speed/ meduim health/ Health does not regen/ high firerate/ 20 bullet clips/ 7 bullets to kill SMs 15 to kill Gunsmens WILL BE UPDATED WITH engineer!
You know... since this is starting to sound similar to TF2 (The name FORTRESS and now engineers) You should make a mod for TF2 to get a basic idea. You can make bot AI's in TF2 and stuff I think. And the weapons are all there, you just need to make models, skins and the map. If it was a mod you wouldn't have any problems playing online to test, It's just an idea though. A mod would be quicker in my opinion but I have never made one.
this is not like TF2 the least bit at all? the only thing in here thats close to it is the engineer part? which isnt even like it at all if you looked at the link in the first post you will see my genral idea for the game. and FORTRESS is a temp name btw.
