Hi all, This is my first post on these forums. I just joined this community a couple days ago when I decided to research PA a little deeper and realized just how amazing of an RTS game PA can become and how important its success can be for the RTS genre and the future of gaming in general (i.e. games where publishers don't get in the way as much). Anyway, I spent a few minutes searching on these forums and via Google for more info about UberNet but was unable to locate what I was looking for. I am very curious about what UberNet is exactly and about Uber Entertainment's ambitions for it, especially after listening to Jon Mavor mention it in the livestream videos. Is the vision for UberNet somewhat like a better version of Blizzard Entertainment's Battle.net server architecture/gaming service? The fact that UberNet is being licensed to other developers is a great business idea in my opinion, and makes me more optimistic about Uber Entertainment's capability to support/enhance its products long-term... which is a great thought considering PA's potential for awesomeness! If this topic has already been discussed in another thread and I was simply unable to find it, please provide me the corresponding URL.
I don't think we've really talked about UberNet all that much in public. There are other devs using it but we haven't really been pushing that aspect of it much at this point. It already is pretty complete and does a ton of stuff, although it can always do more.
Thanks for the response neutrino! I hope to learn more details about what UberNet will do for PA players in the coming months
It's really a set of web services that we run that do a variety of things. User accounts, catalogs, stats, game servers etc. etc.
