Reposted from here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/233250/discussions/3/624076850993731632/ Boardgame mode. I want a graphical setting that is extremely stripped down. Basically nothing but single polys (spheres cubes pyramids etc) and the strategic icons. Think like how 2d chess is represented in newspapers. Essentials only, so that the game can be played far better on low end systems while retaining all the strategic depth. Not all of us need to see a Michael Bay movie while we play Yeah I gutted the graphical settings, but that's not near close enough to what I mean. I want to very nearly not render the units and structures at all. Wireframe mode at best. I'm not a coder so for all I know in terms of hardware demand wire frame would be harder than spheres and cubes. I'd like a bargain basement option at the bottom of every graphical list box so I can mix and match. Personally I'd like pretty planets and gutted units. I hope I was clear.
Unit models aren't even rendered when you go to strategic view, so I doubt this'd increase perf very much.
Then please explain why units are visible on planets different than the one you're on? @bgolus I summon thee, clear up this confusion.
Since I have my settings set to such a terribly low amount I can actually see units disappear just a bit before the strat icons show up, so I know it's true. Not sure why units show up when on other planets, you sure it shows units and not just buildings and stuff?
I still want this to happen someday And now that I'm getting into modding maybe I can make it happen.
