The units have movement mode "roam" and i have no idea what it does or is supposed to do... But it did give me an idea. Simple command, click it and the unit/units will patrol random waypoints looking for stuff to kill. This way you can easily scout and entire planet. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Something a bit more advanced... If possible. Auto "assist & repair" - AKA: when builders and combat fabricators are set in this mode, they will roam around NEAR friendly units fixing and assisting builds. They should only assist ONE building, then move on to next one so they wont get stuck assisting one factory set on infinite. This way you can use builders and combat fabricators to "auto micro-manage" your base when idle ones are around without having to set waypoints for all of em. The question is, is it doable?
This is already in the core game - simply issue a patrol command, but instead of just clicking, click and drag outwards - a circle will form, and the units will randomly patrol inside it. If you drag the circle off the edge of the planet, they will patrol the entire planet. Each selected unit will choose different patrol points. If there are fabbers selected, they will repair and assist as they go.
Yep, area patrol commands. Use 'em. Love 'em. Area commands in general can be used to build multiple metal extractors, issue 'area attack' commands, and probably other things I'm forgetting.
