I found since I bought MNC, I've started buying new Arcade games, 2 to be precise (Deadliest Warrior and Perfect Dark). Anyone else find this?
I've been buying them for a while now. After I got MNC though, I haven't really been playing anything else too much. I have been playing MvC2 a bit. I'm getting excited about MvC3.
XBLA games are as much of a crapshoot as retail games in my opinion. I prefer retail games though since I can get them for similar(or even better) prices when they're older and they have a little more meat to them
MNC has totally been a gateway game for me, I had no idea there were so many good games on the XBLA. Prior to MNC, the only arcade game I had was Geometry Wars, and I bought that three years ago. Since MNC, I've bought Trials HD (and all the DLC), Toy Soldiers, and Crazy Taxi. Sure, but at least XBLA games seem to all have demo versions so you can try them out first.
I've really considered picking up Battlefield 1943, but when I played the demo there didn't seem to be that many people in a lobby at a time. The game is supposed to support up to 24 people, but I don't think I saw more than eight in a lobby at a time. Did I just get a bad impression of it? I loved Battlefield 1942, I used to play it all the time at local LAN parties, but I don't want 1943 if I can't get into matches with a decent number of players.
I tried playing about a month or so ago, so I'm not sure if this is accurate, but I could find one game with about 16 people in it. It wasn't laggy, but I've had issues with lag in 1943 before.
I wouldn't get BF1943 because EA can shut down its servers anytime they want, and it is really decreasing in popularity.
Don't buy a game you don't know anything about. I generally follow this rule and have rarely been disappointed when I've purchased a retail game. I have a nasty feeling though that the $000.00 I paid for Dark Sector may have been too much...
