Hey everyone. Just picked this up on the Steam sale and looking forward to trying it out.

I've played TF2 in the past (about 2 years ago) and this will be the first game of similar nature i'll be touching in a long time - I took a break and was more involved in iOS (iPhone / iPad) gaming for quite a while. I'm slowly coming back to PC gaming and, seeing this sale on Steam, couldn't resist.

I hope this doesn't turn into another Lead & Gold or Shattered Horizons in the near future - i'm slowly looking through threads on this forum to read up on what I should do as a 'noob' but am having a tough time grasping things while the game is downloading.

Any tips to start off with, besides going for the moneyball and defending our team's? Is the Assassin wise to start off with, or are they a dime-a-dozen in the game already? Last but not least, what's the most effective way to level/rank up and get on the same page as the more advanced players out there?

    Cheers!

Assassin is probably NOT a wise class to start with

Assault, Gunner, and Tank are the easiest to start with

In TF2 terms, the Assault is like a demoman who also has an assault rifle and jetpack. The gunner is like the heavy, and the Tank is like a pyro.

How about Support? One of the other threads mentioned it's one of the better (more invaluable) classes to use?

On a side-note, are there any particular videos/tutorials on YouTube worth watching for a new player like me (since from what I understand, the in-game tutorial is very underwhelming)?

Thanks for the mention. I'm working on in-depth tutorials for new players right now but it will be at least a couple days before I can get the first one done. It's going to be more professional than my usual commentaries.

    Any and all new players:

Add me. I will be on available anytime that I'm not playing basketball or working. I am happy to help mentor you.

I also make videos but focus more on entertaining than to teach. Either way you can see how Support works to an extent.

F*ck you good sir. I don't hear you complain when I carry the team as a gunner.

Join our Mumble though. There I can insult the new players personally.

So i've spent about 90 minutes with the game. I started off with the Assault class - found him to be less "damage-dealing" than I expected. Wasn't too apt at using his jetpack yet. Forgot what skills he has since I hardly used him long enough to remember.

I tried the Support Class and while I was able to help my teammates out by over-boosting them, I couldn't get a kill with that gun if my life depended on it. Ehh... need more time with him I guess.

Moved on to the Heavy Gunner - liked him quite a bit. The ground-pounce is good for clearing out nearby bots, etc and his ability to get 'stationary' was a great way to set my position and let loose on swarms of bots and other enemies behind them.

Next came the Sniper - I enjoyed setting his Ice Traps and picking people off, while the Flak Trap seemed a bit useless to me (as in, I hardly saw any damage output, even upgraded). So far, the second-most fun class for me.

The Assassin by far is the class I enjoyed playing the most. Bots stood no chance against the upgrade Katana; smoke bomb is useful in certain cases but mostly went unused. Sneaking up behind people and grappling them was pretty satisfying and, I had a good time getting key kills and positioning myself strategically to wear the opposing teams' wave down.

    Any tips/comments?

    Yes.

Smoke bomb = Amazing, if you don't use it a lot you're probably bad

If you kill people (most of the time going out of your way to kill somebody is stupid and running away is far better than fighting) they should be in your lane destroying your bots. If you get kills any other way ,that's nice, but you wasted precious time not killing bots/turrets.

Signed: A far better assassin than you

Later today, I will play a game and attempt 0/0/0/300+ bots.

Then I will purchase lvl3 rockits everywhere for my lovely new team. Hopefully, they will watch and learn.

Good day new guy. Myname is the same on steam. I try to teach new people the basics so they can win. Add be if you can.

    Some small notes:

The assault is good at stopping the heavier classes with his rifle and damaging the moneyball with his secondary weapon the Grenade launcher.

If you check out the above posters channels you should understand the basics of play.

-Bots down the Moneyball if they reach there
-Players can only attack the ball if the shields are down
-Bots are stopped my turrets, other bots and players
-Turrets should be downed before you concentrate on players

Each class has a first and secondary weapon. One does more damage to bots or turrets than the other.

    Assault
    -Bots:Grenade Launcher
    -Turrets:Grenade Launcher
    -Player:Assault Riffle

    Assassin:
    -Bots:Sword
    -Turrets:Sword
-Player:Sword but if you are at a proper range use Shuri-gun on heavies

    Gunner
    -Bots:Mortar
    -Turrets:Mortar
    -Player:Minigun

    Support
-Bots:Shotgun. Heal/Hurt gun heals faster when draining bots.
-Turrets:Heal/Hurt gun just because you have range. Make sure to use airstrike.
    -Player:Shotgun

    Sniper
    -Bots:Sniper(Headshot)
-Turrets:Sniper but dont bother with turrets in this class
-Player:Sniper(headshot) SMG is very handy if you have the ammo endorsement

    Tank
-Bots:Jetgun. Use railgun if too far
    -Turrets:Jetgun
-Player:Jetgun. Railgun is more handy on slow heavies
