How about some little mini game while waiting for commanders to land and or the 5min timeout because of a dropped player?
Play an app on your phone or something. When the game becomes more stable, such long loading times won't occur. So there's no point building a game for something that won't be a factor in the future.
Surprised people are this impatient. I started playing LOL and the time it takes for a game to start is horribly long. A good mod could be like a hint and tip screen or keyboard shortcuts or top imgur pictures of the day.
It is not so much the load time that is a bummer its the 5min time out because some player dropped out.
