Some Commanders are for early backers only. They're a special reward for shelling out a lot of money.

A lot of people would be pissed if anyone could get the pre-order only commanders as a DLC.

I think these commanders should be special and show that you've been here since alpha. That's one reason why I backed this game.

Hmm, a DLC commander that is much cooler and much stronger then Delta commander , they should call this commander : Omega Commander

I like how in 2013 people are requesting trivial DLC.

If I remember correctly, I'm pretty sure they said they won't do DLC commanders. I may be wrong on that though. I may be getting it confused with community members explaining why it wouldn't make sense to do DLC commanders.

With mods being so integrated into the game, there's little point to DLC.

Don't get me wrong, Uber will continue updating the game, just like is done to Team Fortress 2 or Eve Online, but it won't be a DLC like with Battlefield or something.

Lemme give you a quick overview of Commanders.

They're all pretty much going to be the same. However, Uber has stated that there likely will be (not guaranteed - they're still experimenting) some differences to the Commanders.

There will be a set of Commander abilities, and certain commanders will have different abilities.

So let's say there's abilities A & B as well as C & D and Commanders W, X, Y, & Z.

Commander W could have abilities A and C
Com X could have A & D
Com Y could have B & C
Com Z could have B & D

So the Commanders will be a little different.

We don't know what the abilities will be though. One of them will likely be rockets and another will be shooting projectiles out of the arm like in current coms.

It's was said many many times that all commanders are visuals-only.

Also I don't see anything bad if Uber will sell other commanders as DLC, but they should leave our Delta/Alpha/Theta for backers-only because it's one great way to say thanks for people who make this game possible.

I was under the impression that these abilities would be the same for every commander. Abilities such as Uber cannon and cloaking (an example).

Yeah that's true. I didn't really see it as being the only thing in the DLC pack, but actually after thinking about it, I don't really see what else "could" be in the DLC. You can't do new maps, you can't really add new gameplay mechanics or whatever...

I'd rather have them work on Expansion packs instead of single DLC packs.

I think those commanders should stay with the people who dished out a frakton of money to support this game.

Additional commanders as DLC? Sure, why not, but the backer commanders should forever stay exclusive to the backers. It's their reward for their support, and it's theirs to show off.
