I have been wanting to use my mic for weeks but i cant seems to get it to work in the game. I use the xbox headset through my xbox controller and the steam software mic test shows it working fine but when i get into mnc i dont think its transmitting anything.. or receiving for that matter.. plz help so i can direct my allied pawns to victory.
I'll bet two bacon on that everything's setup perfectly fine. The majority of MNC players are just socially inept.
seems likely but the indicator that pops up when mic is in use doesnt pop up when i was testing ingame , it did pop up at some points but not when i was testing it out.
ok so last night i tried using it again and when another player was using their mic i saw the mic indicator pop up but i could not hear the person though my headset. in steam it appears setup fine but ingame it looks like i have it setup wrong.
Tell me when you hit Push to tak key does the little Icon come on and dissapear even if you are holding it? Mine disappears after a few seconds.
well it looks like the icon stays while i hold the button but only when i talk in the mic making me think it works but with no one to reply to let me know it works in the game. also i dont hear other people through my headset only though my speakers.
I don't think Steam supports output of voice into a separate speaker (headphone speaker) If it does, I would be tickled pink to find out how. But as I tried doing this a long time ago, same as you, controller with headphone into controller, and I do not believe I had any success. Also, half the time I think my mic is broken, but players are just quiet.
thats strange because when i test the mic in steam it receives and plays my voice back through my headset speaker.
I thing the settings in steam don't matter other than the receive volume. I have a video showing what happens when I hold down the mic and release. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0h65dTjgpQM
There needs to be some way to test mic gain and input in the menu. My headset forces me to use an EXTREMELY low mic volume setting to keep it from being overwhelmingly loud. It's a stupidly sensitive mic that adjusts depending on the ambient volume to get more or less sensitive depending on the background noise. Little noise means high sensitivity high means the next thing I say will have the first few words LOUDG GFAND GARFBLED UNtil my mic re-adjusts unless I set input volume to single-digits. I've only used my mic for source games and there's no way to test or change mic input in MNC, so if the volume adjustments I've made for source games is too extreme for MNC then it's probable that nobody's hearing anything I say.
