A detail I can't ignore, being an TA fan my self metal planets where a lot of fun, massive economy's and the whole works. As soon as I tried a match on PA here, on a metal planet my first thought was this Why the heck do we have metal 'places' on a metal planet? It makes 0 sense.
Maybe balancing issues. If one of the planets in a solar system is metal, everybody would rush for it. Or if you can start on different planets (I hope this will be possible in the future), the player on metal would be in huge advantage.
For awhile they where not sure if we should even be building on metal planets. Metal planet in PA is a manufactured planet made of metal. Not a natural planet consisting mostly of metal. It is not a direct relation to TA's metal planet. There is only one kind of metal spawn model so that is what is currently implemented. The Metal Planets are going to become a form of high teir objective beyond that of just a cool looking standard planet. They are possibly death star type weapons, or what have you. This is not yet a feature. Fighting for the metal planet is going to be about control of a super weapon. cheers
Obviously it depends on your assumptions, you assume Metal Planets to be the same as Metal Maps from TA. don't you think a Planet where you can build Extractors anywhere AND Shoot giant planet killing lasers AND maybe fly around without the need of extra thrusters might not be a bit OP? From the Kickstarter; Nothing says it'll be the same as TA Metal Maps. Mike
Build mass extractors everywhere could simply be an addon to play with. It doesn't have to be tied to a certain map/planet.
