METAL PLANETS I was thinking, metal planets could have innate super lasers that are controlled by the planet ai. There would be 6 dotted around the planet to give them full coverage into space. They automatically shoot down incoming asteroids. These lasers can be targeted, damaged and or reclaimed. Could be defended by a few ai turrets that defend (they don't attack automatically but when threatened) Makes home metal planets “safe” against first strike asteroid bombardment. Can still do it but need a ground force to kill. ALSO when an asteroid DOES hit a metal planet, instead of lava the asteroid adds its mass to the metal planet and leaves a dirt mountain covering a mangled metal crater after the explosion.
