I just started playing yesterday and have found that many of the metal nodes are on the sides or on top of mountains and never turn white when I try to build on them. Is there any way of building onto those?
It's possible to get a few - such as in craters, or in the trenches/polar caps of metal planets - with air fabbers, but don't hold your breath. It's a bug that'll get quashed soon enough.
