After about 6 games on this new beta, I have come to the conclusion that no conclusions can be drawn about the metal levels. In my last game, a fairly large planet with 4 players, there were a total of 21 metal locations over the entire planet, neither of my starting locations had any that were accessible as both had mountains blocking them... In another game with the same size planet, there were well over 100 locations. There are also still many metal locations on cliffs, mountains, and otherwise inaccessible areas. Has anyone else noticed this?
Well, it wasn't huge, I think it was scale 3, but even so... It is possible that it was just a bug though.
I feel that on metal planets you should be able to place extractors anywhere, because, well, the planet is all metal
Metal spots may seem totally random mostly because - at this point anyways - they basically are more-or-less random. They still need a lot of work done on them, obviously. Here's a clip from 54382's changelog:
It might sound cool in theory, but metal worlds were so dramatically different in TA that they are pretty much incompatible with other map types. Now, how about all metal world points being only used for metal makers? Ooh, that would be a strange and different thing. Or maybe not, I dunno.
Or we consider that Metal Worlds are essentially Death Stars and don't need other benefits? At least potentially. Mike
Definitely this. I was surprised when I couldn't build a metal extractor anywhere when I landed on a metal planet. I loved the metal maps in TA.
