After seeing the pre-alpha footage, I had wondered how metal deposits will be distributed through a planet. Perhaps part of the planet creation perimeters, "sparse", "clustered" , "random?"

In the demonstration, the mines were placed willy-nilly. Are deposits going to be implemented later? or will there be a sort of regional concentration of metals (maybe through an highlight overlay of the terrain of rich and poor areas) where you would build mines over?

    Any thoughts?

Whatever works best for gameplay, the Pre-Alpha is hardly conclusive proof of anything.

I expect Uber to use the same type of system for Deposits used in SupCom due to it's 'Foolproof-ness'.

    I think you're right.
But those haven't been distributed on a terrain generator before.

But that doesn't deal with how they function, that's just tweaking the algorithm to ensure a logical distribution.
