I was recently going for some Railgun only gameplay, and it seems like there is something wrong with my aim. When I was trying to hit a Sniper who wasn't paying attention, no matter how fine I made my movements I could not center my shot on him. Testing it again, I found that it moves in sudden, tiny increments instead of a smooth transition. Is it me? Could it be my mouse? The game itself? It's actually hampers my gameplay quite a bit, so any help would be appreciated.
Some people swear by the zero mouse acceleration thing, but this is the kind of problem I have with it... Since this game has zero acceleration, you can either have fine aim or fast turning, but not both. Of course, a higher DPI mouse will give you a larger range of accurate speeds. What mouse do you use?
It could be legacy code from the console version. Sometimes games that were on console suffer from the effects of moving from analog sticks to the mouse. In my experience it can cause extreme deceleration. In Dead Rising 2 and Prototype if you move the mouse faster the distance moved is slower for example. The "skipping" effect is usually associated games as to where the mouse cursor is translated into a crosshair. Basically the mouse arrow is still behind the scenes and if moved to a screen edge it will jump back to the center of the screen. These jumps cause skips. Higher framerates and resolution will tone this down a great deal. On the source engine before the raw mouse input option was implemented this was why people would sometimes raise their sensitivity an LOWER their mouse's dpi as this would also mitigate skipping. You could try that but hopefully a dev or someone will step in and tell us whether or not MNC uses raw mouse input. Personally I have to always play with Vsync on because otherwise the game is not stable for me and this introduces an annoying input lag. And yes it's most noticable with the rail gun so I use more strafe aiming with that one.
I can't remember which kind it is, but even when playing on different mice (One from like, 10 years ago) there was no difference. It always does those jerky hops. Edit: Thanks, Fatcat.
If it's a technical issue and I suspect it is improving your aim won't counteract the problem. I have no idea what having window mouse acceleration on will do (haven't played with acceleration in years) but removing it is another thing you should try. I just use a profile on Set Point for my logitech mouse.
Okay, just watched one of Xcalizorz's videos where he has the exact same problem. Is there some sort of wonder-command that takes away the rigid aiming like he mentioned?
