Because retractable roof stadiums are in vogue these days (and presumably hundreds of years in the future, as well), I would love to see an alternate version of Steel Peel without a roof. I'm not talking about this as a substitute for Steel Peel - Steel Peel is fine and fun as is. It would just be cool to see an alternate version without a top. And with a sunny, day-time setting to differentiate it from the original Steel Peel. The trick would be to make the outside wall low enough that a heavy could get on top using jets (like the low edge of the spawn glass) and possibly assaults if they jumped off a glass barrier, BUT... you would take damage for staying up there, as is currently the case when you're on top of the bot spawns. That way you wouldn't have ninja players running around on the very top ring all game. My first thought on this was it seemed like it made the bases even less defensible. However, after some consideration, I think the reverse is actually true. The only thing I can think of off-hand that could make the bases less defensible would be the renewed viability of gapshots. Regardless, I think having an alternate version for each map would be an efficient way to add even more value to the game by leveraging the excellent work the devs have already done. Another example would be creating a tweaked version of Ammo Mule where bot-spawn-like buttons throw up one-way, spawn-room-type doors (which devs already have the code for) simultaneously on all the entrances to the middle dome (save for the roof) so you could get out, but not in. It could cost like fifty bucks and last for 30-60 seconds, or it could last until someone else spends money to reopen the doors after a cool-down on the buttons. To me, alternate maps (like alternate black road uni's that pro sports teams sometimes wear) would be an easy way to add a lot of value without a ton of effort on the developer side, since you're leveraging off an existing design. BJD EDIT: I cut out the middle section because I felt like this post was too long.
What the what? I can honestly say that from playing this game on release day until now i have never looked at the ceiling, or would bother to ask for a change in roofs lol Thanks for not putting the middle part in though, you could have just kept the first paragraph as i stopped reading when i realised you wanted a different roof for a game.
