    I reported this on previous pte. On mobile so I won't elaborate, but it will work if you run the PA binary inside PA .app from a terminal in the same MacOS directory. You might find some more info from PTE threads.

    Can you please write some newbie-friendly guide on doing that? ;)
    Then I can promote it as workaround on Steam forums.

    I am getting this as well, but can't do the work around as the previous poster suggested within the PA.app folder.

    ~/Applications/Planetary Annihilation.app/Contents/MacOS/run.sh just gives me the same error because it's doing the exact same thing as running PA from Steam by clicking on "Play".

    As well within the actual PA game files which you can find the path for by going into PA options in Steam and clicking on 'Browse Local Files', I get this output (after it loads up Steam even if it isn't open, and then opening the app).

    [15:00:09.409] INFO build version 66770
    [15:00:09.410] INFO Log file /Users/username/Library/Application Support/Uber Entertainment/Planetary Annihilation/log/PA-15-00-09.410.txt opened
    [15:00:09.410] INFO Looks like we are running via Steam
    szCmd: /bin/sh -c '"/usr/bin/open" "steam://run/233250"' &
    [15:00:09.413] INFO SteamAPI_RestartAppIfNecessary returned TRUE, exiting...
    [15:00:09.413] INFO Exiting with 1
    [15:00:09.413] INFO DarwinPlatform::~DarwinPlatform()

    And then get the same old message box. I should also mention that I am a developer tester for OS X, so I may have a more recent version of OS X.

    via System Information:

    System Version: OS X 10.9.3 (13D65)
    Kernel Version: Darwin 13.2.0

    I am getting the same error:
    Library not loaded: ./libfmodevent.dylib
    Reason: image not found

    immediate crash on OS X 10.9.3 - same opening from steam or within the .app package. A re-install, restarts, terminal launch do not fix. If anyone has a fix please post. thx!

    Just to clarify: it's not a good workaround for sure because you basically copy those libs into your system root which isn't good idea at all. Better wait for proper fix.

    While I can understand how this works, i'm currently having difficulty finding out where the PA.app the launcher is using has been put.

    I've got the Uberlauncher.app in the base Applications directory. There's a PA.app file there, but it's the old version from before I got the launcher and is apparently missing one of the files I'd need to copy.

    Does anyone have an idea of where I'd need to look? or where i could find the setting the launcher's using to find it?

    Edit: Found it;
    /Users/<user>/Library/Application Support/Uber Entertainment/Planetary Annihilation/data/streams/PTE/PA.app.

    Ran across someone putting an error log into another thread that pointed me in the right direction.

    You can now update to the latest stable build, 66830, which should have fixed this. Thank you for your report!

    For future reference. Assuming UberLauncher

    Open Applications, and find the Utilities folder. Run Terminal.app. Copy-paste:

    Code:
    cd ~/Library/Application\ Support/Uber\ Entertainment/Planetary\ Annihilation/data/streams/stable/PA.app/Contents/MacOS/; ./PA
