What are your opinions on walls as of now and how they should be in the future? The little use i have tested them with (Can't spam them as of now) i love their durability and that they block direct fire attacks. I think they could keep their buildtime and durability so they are things you can build in times of relative calm and not in the heat of battle like in Supreme Commander. What is the developers vision of usage for them in the release?
It would be nice if walls was like walls. like in Age of empires. where you could drag a wall and it would build it. Now walls are just funny square blocks also i think tiers of walls would be nice. so you could have some really big and tall walls perhaps.
They are completely useless right now, with units just glitching though them Atm, they only work as meatshields or distraction to fool the stupid target selection AI.
isnt that the very definition of a wall? a big stone meatshield? honestly i can easily find the time to slap a mildly thick layer of wall in front of my turrets, reinforcing it as the attacks get more intesne. and the fact that they block movement as well as attacks means i can prevent a tank column from jst rolling right past it. i've even been known to use them as a a funnel. Edit: i was not aware that you had issues with things teleporting past them or whatnot. i however, have not.
Like I said, stupid targeting AI Artillery and rocket bots should be able to shoot across walls, but they are not right now because they have no proper aiming or target selection yet so they rather take on the wall instead of the tower behind it.
What use would walls be if they did not prevent tanks from shooting defensive structures placed behind them?
The issue is more that the walls currently have insane hp and can be repaired nearly for free. They also block 100% of all shots. Basically you can kill 10 enemy turrets with one turret and a wall in front of it + an engie to repair the wall.
And they are a pain in the arse to place in numbers without cheating by clipping them through each other.
I'm hoping we get draggable building function or at least preset blueprints. I suppose with blueprints if you don't make them yourself you would need to know what order stuff would be built. Custom blueprints were good in FA!
What to use else? Artillery and bombers are, apart from other turrets, the only things that can take down a turret with reasonable expenses. Well actually not even bombers, they get the job done but also blow up.
my good sir, you forget some crucial concepts of this game: 1-if the first wave fails, send wave 2. 2-you can never have to many of anything. 3-no unit cap = bring on the swarm. 4- by the time the first wave gets trashed, the second wave will likely be ready. 5-when in doubt, MOAR FACTORIEZ 6-resources are no object. build at will
