It's long story why, but I'm looking for a job in game development. As I 100% freelancer in past I don't have any provable experience and money isn't my main interest currently even something like $300-500/mo is interesting.

What I can say about myself:
    • I'm male almost 24 years old
    • I love games and play them since 1997
    • Have reasonable English reading/writing skills. Was living in English-speaking country for 2+ years, but I don't speak English in my everyday life so need a lot more practice.
    • Linux user for over 7 years. Did maintenance for servers, do understand how Linux drivers, networking and virtualization works. I do understand how how to find security flaws in infrastructure and how to protect it.
    • Did some PHP programming in past and currently doing bit of C++ programming.
    • Did quite a lot of testing and user support on PA and now doing testing/programming on VCMI
Unfortunately can't call myself as programmer because have almost no experience in development within team, but I do can find/fix bugs in C++ code. So I'm most useful as tester, but may also do few more things if needed.

I don't consider there is high chance to find a job on forum, but at least some folks around know what I was doing for PA and who know's may be my skills may be handy. If so please PM me.

    Email for contact: arseniyshestakov@gmail.com
I can provide skype/jabber or whatever you want to use on demand.

I've been working as a programmer for more than eight years and been active on the forum for a long time. And with that background, I would just like to say to people who may not know SXX: Holy crap, this guy is amazing at debugging and problem solving! And if you have a need for a tester, definitely hire this guy!

Try browsing developer websites. Especially indie ones.

Thanks. I'm still around depend on amount of free time. It's just things I'm was doing in past to earn money was boring and wasn't related to games at all. Now not even paid as good as before so it's time to try something new. :)

I'll clearly going to try more options over next months as this isn't something immediate. Though main issue is that it's mainly US/EU companies that want to hire people to work locally and I'm in Russia. Only alternative place to live I have is in the UK/London, but it's expensive to live there and finding company that would make me a work visa it's even harder. It's basically reason why I don't live there currently even after 2+ years I spend there.

I can vouch for that as well, but I think what we're forgetting here, which is really important is that the guy is sympathetic to no end, really sociable, all around likable from dusk till dawn. This is an important skill to have when with colleagues.

@SXX you should talk to somebody at Uber if you haven't already and see if they can point you in the right direction or if they know of anybody who could use a freelancer. I'm sure you'd find a lot of good will from their end for all the help you gave them on PA. They named a unit after you, after all (put that on your resume!) So I bet they'd be happy to help if they can.

Also, have you looked into any companies that do linux ports of games? I suspect that is a growing market right now with Steam OS and all that stuff.
