I want a mouse that has an analog stick where the thumb goes. I've found two mice that seem like they fit the bill, but one has no reviews(MSI StarMouse GS-503) and the other looks horribly convluted(Warmouse Meta) with the vast majority of reviews focusing on the buttons and not the analog stick. I think the StarMouse also just has the sticks to 8 way digital, which is lame.
Why on the mouse itself? I'd have argued you'd be better using the mouse as a mouse and having something like this or this accompanying it for the analog stick.
I like having my million buttons on one hand and my movement controls on the other. Nowhere near enough buttons. I wouldn't be able to play mech games, rts's, type in chats, or use hotkeys in map editors. An analog stick would be extremely useful for anything that needs an additional axis of movement, like map editors(zoom) and space fighters(roll/pitch).
I use a ton of map editors and found that the handy little wheel on the top of most mice these days is VERY good at zooming.
Nope, the advantage of analog over trackballs is that they can easily do -100% - 100% along two axes and controlling the rate is more important than doing it quickly. Trackballs are better when there's no cap. I'd take a trackball instead of a middle wheel though. That'd be pretty sick.
you want this: ... Well more likely this: http://gaming.logitech.com/en-us/product/g13-advanced-gameboard
what @roadkillgrill said, though I would even go for the warmouse. but take it from my experience, you fall back on comfortable mice with less buttons sooner than you'd expect. I went from a Roccat Kone+ which is ridiculous in terms of button number (22) but the most shite fabrication quality I've ever seen in my life ...to SteelSeries Ikari white (laser version) that has a measly 6 buttons couting leftclick right click and scroll wheel click. Let me tell you : I will never go back from this mouse. Comfort, especially for people who have big hands (and I do, I'm 6’3” tall (1.9Meters)), is king. I thought the roccat kone was big and comfortable, this one is tons better, contrary to the kone my pinkie doesn't touch the mouse pad: the ikari has a resting place for all five fingers as you can see it's not even a question of filling the entire hand. just one of comfort. And I gotta say the ikari's slick and elegant profile does the job nicely. Comfort > gimmiks
