I'm very interested to ask questions, but unfortunately life happens to me all the time, so I was wondering whether we could start an ongoing thread of questions which the devs could cherry pick since they often seem to be scanning the questions for some that will give some good answers. Anyway, I'll start the ball rolling: 1. Will maps provide seed values we can use to replay and share maps? 2. Will there be different factions? And if so at what level of differentiation and implementation? I've only read that there won't be faction specific unit's since it doesn't make sense from an in-game tech perspective, and it's a fairly poor investment given all the other cool stuff that budget can be put towards. 3. Do you envisage weapons/structures to alter the rotation/orbit of planets in order to aid/hinder interplanetary weapon's fire. E.g. Set up a fire base on the dark side of a moon and then engage thrusters to swing the firebase around to bear on the nearest planet.
I'm not uber but I can answer those. Yes you can save and replay them. Either as seeds (or if that doesn't work) as the JSON files that have all the map information in them. You can even create maps by hand and share those the same way. Nope, no different factions. Different commanders with 2 different abilities per commander and 2 team colours to choose from. That's it. Thrusters will be able to move asteroids. Those asteroids can have structures on them. Movement of larger orbital bodies, nobody knows yet.
Oh cool, thanks! As for the faction information though, I was more wondering, will the game be "faction-aware" so that new factions might be modded in easily, but the base game is already flexible enough and provide the GUI for such things.
I'm sure it will be faction-aware. They've apparently built the engine to handle every other possibility, so I think it will have support for factions as well.
