Coming from a Sup Com, FA background - I personally love that the manner in which you build you base affects your economy. Aka placing power plants adjacent to factories formed a little link and reduced the power consumption for that factory. I searched for this before on the forum and found nothing (although trying to put this little link between buildings into words was slightly difficult), so kind of just assumed it wasn't being included. I was having a look through some early renders today though and noticed that on these images at least the tier one power plant appears to be linked to the space station, and the tier two to the factory! http://planetaryannihilation.tumblr.com ... srt-2013-1 Is this just some added artistic flare for the image or is this something that is on the list of features Uber would like to include?
Re: Linking Structures Together? Nope won't be included. Community consensus also is that its not needed and gives unnecessary complexity for subpar gameplay benefits. Btw. if you search for adjacency you'll find quite some threads about it where the issue got dealt with pretty conclusive.
Re: Linking Structures Together? OHhhhhhhhhhhh adjacency! Duh! Now that was the search term I was looking for! Thanks smallcpu.
Yea this game will be a TA successor, will have little to do with Supreme Commander. Most features that SupCom has, this game won't have
While adjacency might be a bit complicated for PA given its scope, I was hoping Veterancy would be included, since it's in TA. Even though I know veterancy will not be in PA (but I hope a balance mod IS made for it), I think it would add an element of concern for one's units, especially those that have survived many battles and built up their veteran status. Rather than just throwing units into battle with little care for their welfare, players would single out veteran units and carefully use them knowing that their improved abilities could mean the difference between winning or losing an engagement.
I agree, there should be incentive to preserve units. Heavily discounted repair or a low HP-reg on all units could accomplish that. These threads may interest you: viewtopic.php?f=61&t=34631&p=726227&hilit=veterancy#p726227 viewtopic.php?f=64&t=48532&p=750674&hilit=veterancy#p750674
