Ooh was there another update? I found out about it way after the KS, and to me I just love the updates as an exploration of programming.

Josh took a leave of absence - something about mental health issues due to over-stress.

Yeah seems like he has taken a break. I hope he gets better, I really love to see how he expresses himself as a programmer. Like, you really get to see his passion in his work and attention to detail.

This is the first I've heard of this game or the developer. Looks interesting though. Could someone be kind enough to fill me in on details? I don't really want to go trawling through those forums for info when I suspect one of you has in in their head already :p

    So here's some history first:

Josh P is an amazing programmer who hails from Stanford U. His specialty is all things procedural.
He got a kickstarter going for his dream game, limit theory, and people funded him. Limit Theory is a completely procedural game - every asset, from the nebulas to the fighters, is based solely on a math equation. This makes the game incredibly light and also incredibly moddable. Changing how your game looks is as simple as opening up his editor and swapping a polarity or two.

If I remember correctly, the game only weighs 30mb right now.....which is incredible, especially if you watch his videos.

He was also approached by Star Citizen to head their proceudral generation department after the kickstarter. He declined and continued work on LTheory.

Now, LTheory is inspired by freelancer and elite (somewhat). It will be single player only and has this super long list of features that I wont go into here. Anyway, here's his YouTube:

Pseudo random functions for computing something as big as this must be super complicated. Sounds fun :)
