now this is for the assault, lvl 2 charge vs lvl 3, lvl 3 has the chance to ring out some body where lvl 2 seems to do damage but not send them flying anyways. Now i know a lot of assaults on here prefer to use charge 2 as there is no animation but i get screwed over using lvl 2 by others who use lvl 3, they get you just in range then bam, hit with the charge and your pretty much screwed.

Do you use charge 2 or 3? i am going to give charge 3 a go as i have been screwed over by it to many times.

As someone who doesn't play assault, I have to say that charge 3 is much more deadly than charge 2. Charge 2 is pretty easy to avoid, but charge 3 seems to connect every time.

yer it is really annoying when you get hit by it to when you charge them first with lvl 2...

When i play as assault (which is when i'm screwing around) i go for 2, like said, the animation makes you incredibly vulnerable, and makes you unable to charge bots, unless you jump then charge

Charge 2 especially since it happens a lot where an assassin will front grapple and when you charge in return you don't wanna get locked in animation and leave yourself open

most of the time though the assassin will get away if you have charge 2 and they're smart, i use the grenade launcher on bots and only charge when there close to the ball but im gonna have to try charge 3...i just hate seeing the animation and leaving myself open

I find a lot of assaults like to use this tactic:

Fly within charging distance of enemy pro. Level 1 or 2 charge for ringout.

This is not a good tactic against an experienced player. It's easy to see this coming, and I will start strafing before you land, as soon as you begin the charge I will change direction. Ta da, you are now within easy grapple range of me, and you've used up all of your fly skill. Easy ringout. Any other class can do the same thing with whatever good short range attack they have.

I don't know much about assault, but if this is the sort of thing you use level 2 charge for, I would consider giving level 3 a try.

i don't use it for that i use it to either finish someone off when im about to reload or to get the jump on someone damage wise where lvl 2 charge works great but lvl 3 would send them flying giving me a chance to ring out because as of now they don't seem to fly anywhere for me

I don't get why people hate on Assault's level 3 charge. Sure, the grapple makes you vulnerable but you can also completely bypass it simply by tapping Y a split second before you tap B. Poof! You've got a more powerful charge that recovers faster!

I absolutely love the sniper's grapple damage and ringout potential. I can't imagine why someone wouldn't want the same thing but be able to do it from a distance, because that's basically what level 3 charge is. Plus you can still do the fly/charge attack in situations where you wouldn't want to use the grapple.

when you fly and charge someone at level 3 charge, it does less damage than a level 1 charge.

god yes. it was a good game however.i would lunge at people, damage them, then flay past them, and return to in front of them again; smoke bombs werent even worth using.
but about the charge thing, an in-flight level 3 charge does just enough damage to kill a slim.

I have a Gold Skill Recovery Assault where I used Charge 3. It's used last though as sort of a finisher. I'm not going for the Ring out. I'm going for the grapple kill so I try to make sure their health is near the red before I use it. Also I don't use it in crowded areas but if I do I make sure to have a bomb down first, since you are able to detonate the bomb during grapple animations.

that's what i was planning to use it for and assassins they annoy me so much....and for ring outs and to help with juicers.

whats a good upgrading path? i usually go charge and passive off the spawn then bomb to 2 then either charge or bomb to 3 depends on what they have and what i am using more

I mostly stick with level 2 for a few reasons:

    1) damages multiple targets
    2) knocks back multiple targets
    3) less likely to knock back targets it DOESN'T kill so far you cant reach them

ESPECIALLY for reason 3, nothing worse then knocking a tank or a support far away and having them live because you just knocked them over a wall and not out of the ring. Also using a level 3 grapple against my assault is just an invitation for me to fly back and bomb you, as opposed to the height of the knock back of level 2 which often leaves the assault to low to fly back over a ledge.

...but I will upgrade to level 3 if there is a lot of juicers on the other team for the delay/almost certain ring out and sometimes on GrenADE III just for easy ring outs (even though level 2 usually cuts it).

Yeah that's pretty much how I go. No matter the build I always upgrade passive 2 as Assault at match start because you get to jump higher. With the Gold Skill I also throw in Fly 2 somewhere. Usually early/mid game.

    1. i rarely ever charge when there's 2 people against me you will die no matter what
    2. i have NEVER sent someone flying some a lvl 2 charge it does next to nothing in the launching them department
    3. if you knock them over a wall chase them down...your possibly the most mobile class i will use the GL and bounce nades off the walls or just AR them down if they get away so be it, get them later.

if i hit you with a lvl 3 charge and your an assault your gonna die 90% of the time, its not i just charge you, i shoot you then charge you, so your gonna die from either the charge or be ringed out, if you do live the charge then im gonna shoot you out of the air before you can throw your bomb and hit me with it
