I really don't see how these things are useful outside of Blitz. What motives do you guys have to put these things up instead of a Lazer turret? I personally never saw the appeal in these things, they take way too much money to upgrade and really don't do much seeing as nobody should run into your base while you still have turrets out.

Why do you guys put these up? Usually I just get rage when some guy puts out a SI when we clearly need a LB.

They work to the extent that they are the best (and cheapest) damage soak turrets the game. Do bots stop to attack them? If so, its not completely insane to build a level 2/3 shave ice and over-heal it.

Shaveices can be useful when applied right. They slow down Assassin's juice rushes, ESPECIALLY when hacked, and can give you those extra seconds you and your Rockits need to take out the incoming wave of bots. Also, bots like to target it, so it can help take attention away from your newly-spawned bots while your team takes em out.

Now, with that being said, you should NOT put one up if that is your only turrent on the field. That's just retarded on so many levels, and will hardly benefit the team.

Oh, and if you're going to have a Shaveice, put JUST one. No more. It's pointless to have more than that, as a 3.3 can pretty much cover almost your entire base.

I fund them more useful on the maps with the turret nubs closest to each other (Steel Peel and LazeRazor), because a 3.3 can affect a huge area. It's also useful on G3 to slow down pro's coming from above (because it does affect above as well as ground level). It was also fun for speed glitching assassins.

3.3's are absolutely ridiculous in terms of how much area they cover, having one at one of front turret spot out of the line of site is definitely worth it. Other than that, the only time I would make one is if you need a quick damage sponge that you don't expect to be around long.

I did it a lot to counteract all the cheating assassins, but I haven't built one post-patch. If I see a big bot army moving in and don't have the money for a rocket, then I might build one just to slow down bots so they're easier to kill.

If there was space for a third turret next to the money ball I would use these all the time. I love them out of all the turrets the most but I can't find a good spot for it.

I'm ashamed to say when I'm sniping I like to steal a spot for a Shave ice to camp just for funzies.

By the way Don't let Support hack your Shave Ice! It feels horrible to be frozen in your base

I have a feeling they will be awfully useful for controlling traffic in the new Spunky Cola Arena.

yeah, and i think you could use 2 shave-ice, especially on spunky cola and lazorrazor.

i had 2 lvl 3 shaveice, lazorblazor, and rokkits on lazorrazor the other day. one of each on each side of the base. hacked the shaveice and rokkits at all times. juicers werent even able to stop this. they tried killing the rokkits cuz of their price, was never able to. then kept killing lazor blazors, which i made more money off my turrets streaks than the lazor cost.

shaveice is a combo turret. used with 2 lazors or a high level rokkit. soaks damage off other turrets, protects other turrets, makes juiced speed-demons shotgun-able. and if you have one, always keep it hacked so you can freeze most of your base and the middle of the arena even. ^this is why you wonder why your experiencing a freeze effect from the middle of steelpeel or ammomule lmao...

I think they're pretty god dang annoying. If I'm strolling up to a base and all of the sudden I'm covered in ice, I know I gotta back track otherwise I'm a sitting duck. But yea once they're dead, IT'S CLOBBERING TIME.

I loooooooooove me some Shave Ice. Especially on Steel Peel.
If I had my druthers almost every nub would be Shave Ice save for the rockets on the moneyball.
ROCKETS SHOULD ALWAYS BE ON THE MONEYBALL, PEOPLE.

Don't you people get how useful Shave Ice is?
There's really no need to upgrade it past level 1. Level 2 if there's nothing else to spend the cash on.
It stops Assassins, gremlins, & waves, period. Rockets will soften them up and if you're playing with competent team mates they'll pick off stragglers running out of the spawn.
If you have half a brain you WILL see them coming a mile away.
With proper placement it'll shut down a juice-jonesing Tank, too.
Most players like to place Lazer Blazers right on the inside of an archway.
I say NO. If you don't already know, Tanks will plop themselves right there and juice themselves up in a heartbeat. Instead, place some Ice up in there to protect whatever turret you have set up adjacent.

Seriously OP, it's TOWER DEFENSE 101.

Having one at both entrance points on your base in invaluable. There's always SOMEONE (usually a Sniper) covering the moneyball to pick off waves and Pros and that'll cover their asses.
I speak without fear of contradiction: the average pub game Support doesn't realize how important hacking a Shave-Ice to 3.3 is to cover an entire base.

Holy buckets do I agree with ya. The other team will usually spend sooooo much time trying to get them down. I sometimes feel like they're frigid little crazy pills.

I actually today for the very first time eyed a MB nub on Lazor and thought 'maybe, just this once I can break the rule. Imma build this into a shave!' The struggle paralyzed me for a few but I couldn't do it - up went the Rokkit. I'm not going to live a life of regrets though, so tonight I'm going to do it. Sorry and you're welcome in advance team!

which nub? left nub = win. you cant defend that piece of horse-excrete anyway before the next update, so a shaveice would at least eat more damage and do its job better. probably would break some elbows of enemies abusing the elbow too (that would be the only time i recommend a longshot turret go up on steelpeel, to create an explosive portal for the enemy to travel thru between your elbow walkway and the enemy spawnroom... and the travel cost is their killstreak lolz)

I Think Shave-Ice Turrets Can be very useful especially when coupled with a Lazer Blazer, Firebase of Rocket Turret.

But to be honest I think they are overpriced. I think they should be the same as a Long shot turret

    Which would change them from:

    100-200-400
    To
    75-150-300

I think this would make them worth their price.

because of their armor, which makes them amazing damage sponge, id say they have to at least be a bit more expensive than a longshot.

I'M JUICED, TIME TO SQUEEZE THE LEMO-*Hacked ShaveIce

Why ain't I runnin' no mo'? SHOTGUN TO FACE!

    /thread

I would like to see the AOE extended onto the ledges above where they are on LazeRazor and Grenade 3, and through walls - if it's like that already, I've not noticed it.

Yup, left nub and it works OK on both Steel and Lazor, I haven't tried it on the other 2 (and def won't on Ammo). I wouldn't do it with less than hack 3 on the other MB turret though.

generally its situational, depending on which side has more distant from moneyball turrets. if they push left, shave-ice has more room on the right (tho it would be more effective if you COULD find multiple nubs to defend on the other side)

i just said left on steelpeel because it would soak damage best, while the enemy hopefully forgets the other turrets on the nubs not-so-visible from the outside of the walls...
