The first match you get thrown into is often little fun. If the match is many minutes in you find yourself outclassed by highly upgraded opponents. Could pro's starting money increase as an inverse of time remaining? This way if you start a match with 5 minutes on the clock you might have [plucking a number from the air] $1000 to spend as a pose to $300. This might make first matches a little more fun for late arrivals. I suppose care would have to be taken such that this extra money would not count towards lifetime earnings, as it might prompt people to serially jump in and out of lobbies.
I know exactly what would happen if this were to actually occur. We'll get people building turrets, leave, return, upgrade turrets, leave, and before you know it, you've got a base full of level 3 rockets. After that's done, it'll be lots of bot spam.
Fair point. How about your levels are automatically upgraded rather than give the player the choice. It's better not having a choice than not getting them at all. Again you get progressively more upgraded as time goes by.
The only kind of person I can find that would have a problem with this idea is probably a spawn camper or rolls with a party. This is a GOOD idea. Sorry, team stackers. And I'm SURE the fine people at UBER could fix or find a counter to the few people that would go to the trouble of leaving a game only to join back and build turrets with the extra bit of dough. LOL. Seriously, though. If someone did do that, and it's their first or second time back into the game, don't give them the extra money! Simple. Even if they were disconnected. It'll happen. Anyway, thanks OP. Suggestions that go into making this game more playable is a good suggestion to me.
I read the thread again and found this to be a great idea. Nice. Also, I found it incredibly funny that Organous over there actually thinks a turret can last in this game. (It's sad, though. I almost always upgraded one skill and spent the rest on turrets, but now I just dump my money into skill and rarely throw any money at a turret.)
My turrets last. You have got to babysit the damn things. Usually, I only build turrets if I'm a support or one of my other buddies asks me to. And by the way, what Organous said happens to be close to what Scathis said about this same problem, so it is a legitimate concern.
Simple solution, players get $50 periodically, so keep track of them and award a new player the right amount of $50 bonuses!
I join plenty of games late, 2 mins in, 5 mins, 10 minutes, and I have no problem starting with $300 cash. I make way with what I have. I go destroy bots and earn money. Level 3 skills aren't needed to win, starting with $300 means you can upgrade two skills to level 2. Maybe it's just because I am an MNC Vet. that I know how to deal with it. Also this isn't a new idea or discussion so don't think every possible idea hasn't already been exhausted.
