Late Game Slowdown Issues

    Hi,

    I am a long time Supreme Commander (original and FA) and am a huge fan of what is being done on PA. I do have one concern about late game performance. After playing a few long games I feel like an issue that affected long supcom games is starting to reappear. Slowly things chunk down to a crawl making the game frustrating to play.

    Without giving too much away on how the engine works, is there anything that the community can be made aware of that enable us to help solve this kind of issue? Typically battles take many hours and right when things heat up this kind of performance lag would hurt the game.

    What makes me more nervous is that the scale of PA will be far greater than supcom.

    It's an alpha so it's far from optimized.

    I totally understand that this is an alpha and there is a lot of work to do on optimization. Wouldn't it be a good thing to understand why late game issue occur and how they manifest themselves? At the very least it would help us help the staff develop/test the game more efficiently.

    Just saying its alpha doesn't really help...

    There is just a ton of stuff we haven't done for late games so there isn't any specific feedback on that right now that's too useful.

    One thing to make sure of is that you are caught up to time as this can increase perceived lag. Hit the "end" key to check this.
