I've seen a request for an award for 1st kill. If anything, perhaps last person to lose their first life would be a more appropriate bonus. Less of an incentive to kill pros from the off.
This is actually a bad idea. The fact that defense is important already persuades many of the dimmer players to focus on turtling rather than attacking, the last thing we need is a bonus that actively encourages turtling. Remember: if defense becomes more effective than offense, stalemates become unavoidable so long as offense is required to win.
There's not thing wrong with turtling. This isn't a fighting game. Strong defense can and does win (especially in OT). You sound like you've encountered persons doing this wrong. I can hang back as any classes and do very well. No one but flamers get mad that they can't juice rush or destroy my turrets b/c I hang back. I don't think anyone should grief ppl for playing defensive.
The issue is that victory is impossible without offense and the average player of ANY multiplayer game is a suggestible moron. Providing one a reason to turtle will provide all a reason to turtle. Want to see how bad of an idea it is to even subliminally suggest that players defend when offense is the only way to win? Go play a game in the CTF_2fort map in Team Fortress 2. A little bit different from MNC in that the map itself promotes turtling, but the ultimate result is that fun matches are outright impossible in it: every match is a stalemate or curbstomp battle with zero fun for either team. If you start promoting turtling with little things like bonuses, all the ignorant masses will do it profusely and end up in the same situation as Turtlefort. Mind you, I'm not saying defense is worthless. I'm just saying it's probably a bad idea to encourage people to not put things on the line for offense since attacking is literally the only way to win in Crossfire. It's a risk/reward thing. In order to win with uncoordinated teammates, you've got to constantly be on the offensive. A defensive effort with uncoordinated teammates will only delay the inevitable, if that.
 This quote is hilarious and not far from the truth, however, overall I disagree with your argument I main Support and sometimes you HAVE to turtle due to your team mates in pub matches often proving the above quote. Not saying I care one way or the other about the last to die reward specifically, but some of the other Support friendly financing suggestions that have been posted would be nice...Ive seen more than one match where we were ALL OVER the other team all match but they turtled and held out till OT, then juice rushed us and won. Irritating and Im still not a juice/OT fan but you gotta use what the game gives you...I juice like a motherf***ker whenever I can because if I dont, someone else will.
I never claimed that turtling or spawncamping were invalid as strategies. I just said it's a bad idea to encourage it is all. I don't appreciate you trying to put words in my mouth at all.
What happens if a pro (or more) doesn't die the entire game? No "last-to-die" bonus, I take it? And if it's a sizable bonus, then the last Pro would willingly just jump off and suicide for free money. Or even, stay in Spawn. Wait until everyone dies at least once. Suicide.
I'm not convinced my original suggestion was a great one - voicing thoughts can quickly resolve their usefulness, for better or worse. ManaCorporation, Your point about not getting killed for the entire match is a good one. Regarding staying is spawn, one figure of merit I had thought was that if people are hell bent on winning that 50 for hiding at the back then the team will suffer it would therefore net benefit the opposition if somebody really wants to be last to be killed. Stop arguing in my thread. Your conversation no longer relates to the topic.
It's a forum, buddy. I hate to see it happen, but every now and then a topic will become a pointless flamewar that deviate so wildly from the topic that the only reason people post is to continue the fight. As part of my ultimately futile attempt to get the thread back on track, I disagree with your suggestion on th grounds that I also believe it will encourage turtling. Whilst there is nothing wrong with turtling per se, it does tend to suck the fun out of the game.
Who is arguing or flaming? People were stating their opinions on the topic...isnt that the point of a thread? I seen no name calling or mean comments...I even complemented Wandrian Wvlf's remark.
1. Announce on mic pros are dead. Suggest to push out. 2. Hear no response. Nobody moves from moneyball glass area. 3. Become disappoint. Contemplate leaving. Yeah I think most people sit back and want to rack up kills for whatever silly reason instead of try to win the game most of the time. I dont want my team worried about not dying as well. That would encourage giving a crap about your kill death ratio, as well as wanting whatever bonus you get for dying last, versus accomplishing your objective.
there is nothing wrong with turtling. not EVEN in a fighting game. just because your hyperactive and it bores you to play the waiting game, doesnt mean nerf people who play stationary until they bleed from every orphus of their body. in real life, do you think someone your trying to pick a fight with and are swinging crazily at, isnt going to turtle? they can put one arm up and hit your ribs with the other every time you swing, and youll never hit their face or torso. why wouldnt they? fact is, the game already is balanced to turtlers. they turtle, enemy juices on bots, enemy wipes the base twenty times repetedly with juice rushers back to back. to turtle, you have to put as much work as you do in attacking, and usually even get killed as much as the attackers you try to wave off, and still usually make less overall money.
