I just got PA today and as soon as I entered my first game I realised it was laggy. The lag is so unbearable for me, ive put all settings to the lowest and switched off shadows and headlights but the lag is still really bad. Other players have said they have lag too but im sure I amnt meant to have this amount, It takes me around 2 minutes to scroll out and thats near the start of the game when there are no units. Could someone please help me?
Currently even people with powerful hardware have lags and your videocard HD 4850 (as I see in your DxDiag) is 5 years old. It's happen because game isn't yet optimized and performance should improve a lot in future. You can't do much about it, but if you'll can play on small moon planets performance will be higher.
As mentioned, there are a number of things you can do to improve gameplay in the current state. Smaller planets, simpler planets are both two of the biggest things you can change to improve performance. Our new graphics focused developer started today, so we're hoping to get some progress on optimization again soon.
yes its currently really testing memory bandwidth at the moment and my SupCom/FAF quad rig canna take it either, I find playing size 2 or 1 planets better than 3+.
