Does mah assassins katana increases mah dmg, it seems pretty much the same as mah dagger from backgrapples.
I'm not sure about slash damage, but it does increase grapple damage. Quite a bit if I'm not mistaken. Generally speaking, most passive (grey) upgrades increase damage output in some way or another. Assault - increases critical shot chance Sniper - shoot through robots and pros/explosive shots. Gunner - dual miniguns Support - increases robot health and fire rate. Assassin - Katana increases grapple damage. Tank - I think he's the exception.
Short answer yes, katana does more damage. Long answer yes, katana does more damage. Here is the breakdown; Dagger slash 50 (75 from behind) Grapple 400 (700 from behind) Katana 75 (112ish from behind) Grapple 450ish (1000 from behind) Now, that information only matters if you know health totals. So, here is health for each class; Assassin 300 Sniper 300 Support 400 (600ish with passive 3) Assault 500 Gunner 700 Tank 700 (800ish with passive 2, 900ish with passive 3) Armor also adds to health; 300 for gold, 200 silver, 100 bronze (assassin w\ gold = 600 health) Overheal can add up to 50% more to total health, making it up to 1800 for a fully upgraded tank with gold armor (the armor adds to amount that can be overhealed, but I could be wrong). So, given the proclivity for people to use gold armor, you are not assured of killing with a back grapple from the dagger except against assassins and snipers. With the katana, you will kill anyone who is not overhealed, with the exception of a tank whose life total exceeds 1000 (silver armor + passive 3 or gold armor + passive 2 or more). Dagger - guranteed against 2 classes. Katana - guranteed against pretty much everyone. You can adjust tactics based on who you are fighting - new people don't run armor as much so dagger is almost as good in back stab, but I would still go for the 50% damage boost katana gives you when you are not back grappling. I am sure people will put corrections up. Either way, katana is better. EDIT - Changed the base health of support...
I am pretty sure you are right, and I was going to double check after I posted and update, but then I didn't because I got lazy. Cool story, eh? I will double check sometime tonight. EDIT - Yep, base health for support is 400. +200 on passive 3.
