Uber, even at this early stage of the game, through all of the glitches, bugs, incompleteness and epic slowdown, you are making a great game. At its core, the game is ideal, and it can only grow to be positive. It really does feel like a true spiritual successor of Total Annihilation, it exploits every last technological innovation of this day and age and nothing is wasted. The game had slowed down to I'd say about 20% of normal and it was still fun. I truly can't wait until the final iteration where instead of waiting for bombers to reach my enemy, I am waiting for fiery balls of space rock. Thank you, from the heart of a strategy gamer.
Played a 1:30h game 2 hours ago. 8 fps ftw. If the fps can stay at 25 for 2 hours despite having 500 units then I shall be fully happy. Perhaps I should try playing in 1280x720 and not stream, then it would probably be around 15 but still, streaming and talking to people and playing with them is the most fun I've had in the last year. Nerds, nerds everywhere!
Well, you have to look at it this way: You have played 1.5 or even 4 hours without a crash. In an alpha that is less than a week old. Congratulations Uber, damn good work!
Yes, I have to agree! I am testing this game on a daily basis now, the patches are just coming in, even on a Sunday and the game has so much potential. It is still rough, but wow what a rough diamond. Chrono-Cam, closing the game and reconnect into the ongoing game, works like a charm. Playing for hours, no crash! Playing on a globe, a round map...it actually works... I can really see now that it will work just fine on different planets and moons and asteroids at the same time... For an early alpha this is really really impressive!
Played my first game a few minutes ago, lasted about an hour. Gotta say, takes me back to Sup Com and I love it!
Indeed. I think Uber nailed something that is, arguably, the most important thing in games of any genre. The core gameplay. The pure distilled elements of what a game is and should be. It can be buggy, glitchy and not balanced at all. But if the core idea is there and visible, if the players can taste it, it's enough (for now). It's something that usually is seen in indie games these days, rare gems where there is something about it that makes you suffer through all the bugs because you simply have fun. Sometimes you don't even know why you're having fun, because appearances can be decieving, gameplay can seem simple and bare-bones.
Genuinely fun. My game was stuttering to death cuz it was such a huge match, and I had a blast the whole time. I was never frustrated at it. The balances are surprisingly ok for its first time around, visuals are mind blowing for what I was expecting. Having just T1 and T2 is definately a very comfortable medium. SupCom frustrates the hell out of me in comparison to this gameplay. I am quite cozy with this one planet gameplay for the time being. Cant wait for planet generation. Imagine...Every quick match will be different. That as a game on its own is just fantastic. Way to go Uber!
I had a 3 hour match and loved every minute of it. Although it's a joy to kill commanders that bit alone makes it worth while
With today's tuesday update.... This game is blowing my mind. I had a completely stutter free fluid pew pew fest. Walls of bots fell to my defenses and walls of defenses fell to their bots. It was nuts. Great experience. Lovely planet generator. I honestly have not had a good random map style game since Age of Empires II. Seriously.
