The one part near the end was a bit too cheesy for me... Well, too cheesy for the rest of this movie. I normally love cheese. Dropped it from a 9 to an 8 for me.
From the trailers i've seen, i expect JW to be one big nostalgia-fuelled moneygrab. The first jurassic park was good, but the rest was just an excuse for a dinosaur-filled cheese horror, and i don't expect this to be less. besides, the dinosaurs don't even have feathers, and while i do understand why, for me it just underpins that it's a no-risk straightforward dino-flick. Yes i just coined that genre.
They're not so much dinosaurs as they are genetic frankensteins. It's also entirely plausible to think that the executives decided feathered dinosaurs look too silly and ordered the science teams to remove the feather genes.
It's a lot better than Jurassic Park 2 or 3. Not better than the first, but not a bad movie. And they openly admit in this movie that the dinosaurs would look very different if they hadn't needed to splice their DNA with amphibians and fish.
So insanely better than 2 or 3, no comparison. Like the others said the whol no feathers thing was addressed in the movie. The only thing weird was I found it a little jarring going from scary to happy to scary a bit earlier on with the kids subplot. But after a certain point the movie really took off. Visuals were great, though I wish they could have used practical effects a smudge more. Oddly enough the easiest one was skipped (velociraptor breaking from egg) and some more difficult to do things were done in practical effect. The only part really nostalgia filled was when the kids visited the old park main building.. And some references and things. Overall great movie in my opinion, not a 10 outta' 10. But most movies aren't, 8/10 maybe 9 like really- see the movie but please don't go in expecting to hate it, because then you'll find every little knit picky thing.. =/ (Or don't see it at all I guess xP)
