Did a quick video on the patch notes for the 9th if you want to see how it looks when you try to continuously jump jet. I am kind of concerned about gunner's mobility in particular. Tank still has charge (and thus can still "tank jump") but jets were all gunner had to move faster. In addition, jet jumping plays a huge role in gunner's ability to strafe and attack at range with dual-minis. I don't play tank much differently but I don't even like playing gunner anymore (I run an accuracy build and jump jet frequently).

Could I get some opinions? I'd love to hear what others have to say. I don't think there has been a thread dedicated to this yet (apologies if there is). Also, I wonder if Uber is testing this out to see how it plays out since steam updates are easier than working with Micro$oft. Or maybe not and it will be included in the next 360 version update as well *shrug*

Alot of gunners have switched to assault. The loss of mobility really hurt them. Tank is still viable due to charge. Someone mentioned in the other thread to replace gunner grapple skill to reduce jetpack cooldown so level 3 will allow the flying gunner style again, easily the most fun way to play gunner.

Thanks for redirecting me. I'll read through that thread after I get out of the office.

i really dislike the way they go NOWHERE up if they've run out of jets

Restoring some minimum amount each time they touch ground would help a lot. At least enough to give them a normal jump comparable to the other classes.

As Stretch said, this has been discussed, however I couldn't agree more with the OP. Gunner is not fun to play anymore. I'm switching more and more to assault now...

I would have preferred to see them nerfed another way (less minigun power or accuracy, or something like that - but were they THAT overpowered ?)

    *Sigh*

I guess I can leave my take on it here as well. Even though I have some lag and find the mouse movement extremely sensitive I can tell without the lag and a better sensitivity the Gunner would be too. Mostly due to him being able to fly everywhere and anywhere at anytime and still tear you to pieces with his weaponry. Even with the cooldown I didn't find any problem making the same jumps I do on the XBox version, the only difference I can't fly around like a bumblebee in the middle of the battlefield.

If you take a look at the Gunner's skills it's kind of obvious he is in a way meant to be grounded. His jetpacks are meant to help him get the higher ground faster, and we all know a Gunner who has the high ground is deadly.

Cutting the Gunner's already low mobility has really limited the class to just lumbering around spraying bullets. It's still a really strong class and will rack up tons of kills in the right hands, it's just not interesting to play when compared to how diverse and fun the other classes are. I have about 4000 kills on my Gunner in the beta and it's really tough playing the class now after spending so much time with it before the nerf when it was more mobile.

Nerfing the jump jets has also lowered the usefulness of the slam ability. The ability was already ineffective vs. experienced players because it's so easily avoided, now it's even tougher to catch players by surprise from above.

Jetpack needs uncoupling from jump so you can operate them independently.

A single tap of spacebar to jump, double tap to activate jetpack would make much more sense.

I will agree with that. "Normal jump" and a "jetpack jump" could be a nice touch.

Really I think their Deploy 3 and Grapple skill needs another overhaul.
No gunner uses Grapple, so it's useless compared to just turning people into swisscheese. The Deploy 3 obviosly doesn't work, as snipers just headshot right through it. So there they have what? Money spent on 3 skills, that are useless? :|

Gunner skills definitely needs a revamp. He's simply not that interesting to play.

I like the mostly useless gunner skills though, it means I can max passive and slam then throw money at turrets/juice and feel more useful to my team.

Otherwise the urge to be a selfish sod and upgrade personal skills takes over. :x

I change my mind about the jump jet nerf not being all that bad. I've spent probably all week using gunner and tank, and wow...

Gunners REALLY needs it because he just simply sticks out to snipers and with no way of retreating. Either speed up the gunner's main speed or something cause his lack of mobility is seriously bad.

As for tank... meh, I COULD live without it, but it does kinda suck.

...but perhaps we should wait until after they add the gauge to our HUD. I doubt they will change their minds until we've seen their patch. ;)

I'm looking forward to it, but I doubt it will change everything. I have played quite a lot since the change, which allowed me to learn exact timings for jetpack charge, and even with that it's really hard to use it. :(

I agree, with the gunner having no type of charge or speed boost he just feels really god damn slow, especially when I press slam since it's usually the charge/dash button and I just get stuck in place for a few seconds :(

Maybe it's the fact that I know when and when not to use the jumpjets on the Gunner is why I am not having that much of a problem with it.

Tank seems fine with this change, but Gunner is simply too slow. I think this is because of the increased accuracy/aiming speed the mouse affords - with no way to retreat, the Gunner is a giant target with a "Shoot me" sticker on his back.
